Morning Brew for July 8, 2015

We kick things off this morning with another NBA Summer League summary! It’s Fan-Tastic! (August 2nd can’t come soon enough) Jahlil Okafor dumped in 13 points on 5/12 shooting and pulled down 9 boards, 5 of which came on the offensive end. Again, the mechanics and the talent level are all there, I just can’t wait for Jah to get comfortable. Sixers won if you care about that, 76-62. (SIXERS)

Staying with the Sixers, Dario Saric spoke with a source at BasketballInsiders.com about how he wanted to come over and play for the Sixers this year. Unfortunately for us, he’s honoring his contract in Turkey. The contract holds a no out-clause. Hate when those things get in the way. Good write up about the “Croatian Sensation.” (BBallInsiders)

All of a sudden, USA is a soccer powerhouse! Well, part true. The U.S. National Mens team took on Honduras last night in the Gold Cup opener. Clint Dempsey scored twice and for the most part I thought Team USA looked good. They seemed to tire out in the second half but a win is a win. 2-1 good guys. (USsoccer)

Not sure you caught theTeam USA ladies award tour yesterday, taking place in L.A. But the black “World Champion” shirts are nice.

Yesterday was Day One for the additions coming at PhillyInfluencer.com. I wrote about Nick Piccone joining PI.com here. In that little write up I said “he’s a huge get and after a few weeks, you’ll see why.” Well, how about day one when he comes out swinging! He’s good at what he does & I’m very lucky to have him at PhillyInfluencer.com. Check out his work here, here & here. While you’re at it, give my man a follow on Twitter as well. He’s working hard! @nickpiccone

Also from yesterday, PhillyInfluencer Live! Every Tuesday and Thursday at 1PM I will host an hour long, live podcast. But the replay is just as fresh! Hit the link->(PhillyInfluencerLive)

This is an interesting debate but I’m betting ESPN isn’t all that thrilled about the fact that two of their own employees are having it. Way too much too cover but everything is written here perfectly about the Twitter dust-up between Chris Broussard and Bomani Jones. (SportingNews)

Not sure I’m the only one on this but I love when the grounds crew has trouble rolling the tarp out for rain delays. (Yes, I know it can be dangerous) We all remember when the Phillies saved the day in Colorado back in 2007! [aka the good ol’ days]. Check out last night’s debacle in Pittsburgh. (SI.com)

Finally, Philly’s own Meek Mill was a guest on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club this morning. It was a good little chat with Meek. He’s obviously a little camera shy, which is surprising but that might also have something to do with Charlmange and the 6:30AM interview as well. (HipHop)
