Jahlil Okafor Used a Fake ID, and Marcus Hayes Wants Him to Get an Entourage

Ah, another day, another Jahlil Okafor story. Today’s story is brought to you by the letters I and D, as in Okafor tried using a fake I.D. at Misconduct Tavern in Center City in October. According to the report by John Gonzalez of CSN Philly, Okafor “allegedly presented a fake I.D. … and was refused service,” according to two sources. Gonzalez notes that one of the sources said he was surprised, since Okafor “is ‘a big guy’ and ‘famous’ and ‘pretty easy to recognize.'”

Who wouldn’t recognize him? I guess about 90% of the Philadelphia population that have tuned out the Sixers until they start winning again. Yes, I’m calling us frontrunners. I’m just waiting for the story that has Okafor exclaim…

…and then I may just retire.

As for the rest of the team? Their history isn’t exactly squeaky clean, either. Bob Cooney from the Daily News drops the knowledge:

Two years ago, according to sources, there was a traffic stop in New Jersey of a car occupied by four Sixers players. There was a small amount of pot found in the car, a source said, but there were no charges. The majority of those players are no longer with the team.

There is the fact that Nerlens Noel was fined heavily and often, to the tune of around $25,000, according to a source, for repeated tardiness and other violations during his first season, which he missed due to a knee injury.

Oh, my. Oh, my oh my oh my oh my oh my. With these latest reports coming out and nobody even mentioning the apparent attitude problems of Joel Embiid the last year and a half, maybe Sam Hinkie’s “culture” is even worse than Chip Kelly’s.

And tonight on Philly Sports Talk, Marcus Hayes pretty much implied Okafor needs a posse to handle this type of stuff.

This is what happens when Philly sports is stuck in a seemingly endless abyss that make us question our sanity for why we even watch games at this point. This is the news now.
