Your Week 11 Fantasy Football Review

Week 11 is in the books now and it was a wild one. The Panthers are on cruise control, while teams like Philadelphia and San Diego are on a full plunge down the toilet. Seasons ended for two stars in Baltimore, while seasons in Dallas may just have been saved. Let’s take a closer look at the week in review.

Five key storylines from Week 11

1.Dabbin’ all over the competition

The Panthers are starting to make it look too easy and this may be the story of the season. Carolina is now a perfect 10-0 on the season, after throttling Washington 44-16. If I told you prior to the season that the Patriots would be undefeated, you’d tell me that it was definitely possible. However, if I told the Panthers would be undefeated, you’d laugh at me uncontrollably. The Panthers are just playing great team ball right now, led by Cam Newton – who by the way looks like he’s having so much fun out there. All of this is being done without their stud WR, Kelvin Benjamin, who was lost in training camp with a torn ACL. The Panthers have a tough test on Turkey day when they travel into Dallas to play the Cowboys, who have Tony Romo back. If there was ever a week that I’d want to see Cam Newton Dabbin‘, it’s this coming week against the Cowboys.

Even Coach Rivera is getting in on the action. Unfortunately, thanks to Chris Berman, the Dab may be dead…

2. “I’m Gonna Beat Yo Ass”

There’s nothing like a good old fashion sideline argument between teammates to provide some comic relief. With the Chargers 2-8 on the season, it’s no surprise that tempers are flaring. The Chiefs put a hurtin’ on the Bolts yesterday 33-3. In the below GIF, you can see Gates yelling “I’m gonna beat yo’ ass” at Rivers. Too funny! Rivers was trying to calm Gates down, but Gates was having none of that. The Chargers travel to Jacksonville next week to play the Jaguars and if the Chargers lose that one, there’s no telling what’ll happen on their sidelines.

3. Bird Poo

Things have now gotten to the comical stage of sad in Philadelphia. The Eagles were smoked by Tampa Bay on Sunday 45-17. It wasn’t pretty and it leaves us wondering, is this as bad as it will get? To be honest, I’m not sure that it is. There’s friction on the team and it’s never good when players start going to the media “anonymously” as is the case when according to the Inquirer, an anonymous player questioned DeMarco Murray’s effort in the Sunday loss. On top of that, the Eagles are in desperate need of a QB because Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez just won’t cut it. They both stink. Last but not least, the speculation of Chip Kelly remaining on as head coach are at an all-time high and not because Jeff Lurie would have the balls to fire him. But, because everyone has been expecting Chip to head back to coach college as soon as things got bad and boy are things really bad now. There has been a high profile job at USC that has been open and waiting to see if Kelly becomes available. Also, the latest rumor has LSU’s Les Miles on the chopping block and it’s said that Chip is the favorite for that job. So yeah, I don’t think that this season has even begun to scratch the surface on just how bad things can and will get.

The only thing that went right for the Eagles this week, was this hit by Darren Sproles:

4. Broken in Baltimore

It’s already been a brutal season for the Ravens, but on Sunday, the season essentially ended for Baltimore. Not only was Justin Forsett lost for the season with a broken arm, but Joe Flacco’s season came to a close as well with a torn ACL and possibly a torn MCL. Ouch! The Ravens were hit with a double whammy and while their season was heading nowhere fast, you hate to see players go down with injuries, especially like these. Matt Schaub will step in for Flacco, while Javorious Allen will replace Forsett. If you stream defenses in fantasy football, you may want to stream teams that will play the Ravens.

5. Bye-Bye Kaep

Colin Kaepernick’s days in San Francisco appeared to be numbered. He was placed on IR for a “shoulder injury” a few days back and there’s serious questions in regards to his contract at the end of the season. There’s an April deadline for $11.9 million of his contract to become guaranteed for the 2016 season. Kaep has played terribly the last two seasons and although the talent is there, it seems like a change of scenery might be needed in this situation. Oh and hey, the Eagles suck and need a QB bad. Should Chip Kelly be back with the Eagles next year, wouldn’t a guy like Kaepernick fit perfectly in a Chip Kelly offense? Maybe. One thing is for sure, it looks like we’ve seen the last of Kaep in a 49ers uniform.

Waiver Wire Watch (*Keep an eye on, **Time to consider it, *** MUST Grab)

Each week, I will supply you with a list of players that you should consider adding from the waiver wire. Above, I listed the three tiers of players they are. So let’s take a look at the guys that you should be paying attention to. To qualify as a Waiver Wire guy, I’ll only consider those players that are owned in less than 60% of Yahoo! leagues at the time of this writing.

**Javorius Allen (BAL – RB) – 11% owned – Justin Forsett is done for the season, so next man up on the Ravens is Javorius Allen. He looked good when he got on the field on Sunday, so if you’re hurtin’ at the RB position, he’s your guy. He’s about to see some major touches.

***Thomas Rawls (SEA – RB) – 34% owned – Must grab! Must grab! Must grab! Like yesterday.

**Tevin Coleman (ATL – RB) – 27% owned – DeVonta Freeman is a little banged up, so Colemen should see the bulk of carries should Freeman miss time. I’m not the biggest fan of his, but with the RB game being weak in fantasy this year, you could do a whole lot worse.

*Spencer Ware (KC– RB) – 5% owned – Ware proved worthy when Charcandrick West left the game on Sunday. He should be heavily involved in the offense is West can’t go this week, making him a worthy pickup.

**Devin Funchess (CAR– WR) – 34% owned – Funchess had 4 receptions for 64 yards and 1 touchdown against Washington. He’s worthy of being rostered in all leagues at this point.

**Jameis Winston (TB – QB) – 24% owned – Famous Jameis had a big week against the Eagles this week. He’ll only get better as the season goes on. He could prove to be a valuable weapon for you down the stretch if you’re in need of a QB.

Here are Week 11’s Studs:

1. Jameis Winston (TB vs. PHI) – Winston torched the Pigeons this week. He was 19/29 for 246 yards and five touchdowns. He’s a work in progress, but he’s heading in the right direction.

2. Cam Newton (CAR vs. WAS) – Washington never had a chance this week. Cam was 21/34 for 246 yards and threw five touchdowns. Don’t sleep on the Panthers because they’re legit.

3. Carson Palmer (ARI vs. CIN) – The Cardinals look really good this year and a healthy Carson Palmer is the main reason why. He was 20/31 for 317 yards and had four touchdowns against the Bengals on Sunday night. Don’t be surprised if you see an Arizona/Carolina NFC Championship game.

Running Backs

1. Thomas Rawls (SEA vs. SF) – Rawls had a monster performance against the Niners. He had 30 carries for 209 yards and 1 touchdown, and he also had three receptions for 46 yards and 1 touchdown. It sounds like Marshawn Lynch’s injury may be more severe and if so, Rawls is in for a big time second half of the season.

2. Doug Martin (TB vs. PHI) – The muscle hamster ran all over the Eagles this week. He had 27 carries for 235 yards. The Eagles couldn’t stop a turtle this week, but this was still no doubt impressive.

3. Spencer Ware (KC vs. SD) – Charcandrick West went down with an injury, but it was no problem for the Chiefs because Spencer Ware stepped right in. He had 11 carries for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Chiefs routed the Chargers.

Wide Receivers

1. DeAndre Hopkins (HOU vs. NYJ) – Nuk Hopkins has been all that and bag of chips with the dip, this season. He had 5 receptions for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns against a solid Jets team. The future looks bright for this kid.

2. Julio Jones (ATL vs. IND) – Juuuuuuulllliiiiiioooo!!!! Jones had 9 receptions for 160 yards. The Falcons have now lost four games in a row and need to stop the bleeding fast. Here’s a tip for them. Keep throwing the ball to Jones.

3. James Jones (GB vs. MIN) – James Jones got off to a hot start this season and had cooled off a bit. He had a productive game this week against the Vikings as he had 6 receptions for 109 yards and 1 touchdown. He’ll need to be productive going forward to help get the Packers offense going.

Tight Ends

1. Tyler Eifert (CIN vs. ARI) – Eifert had 3 receptions for 22 yards and 2 touchdowns in a losing effort against the Cardinals. His receiving yards weren’t sexy, but the 2 touchdowns were. He’s been great for the most of the season.

2. Delanie Walker (TEN vs. JAX) – As long as Marcus Mariota is starting, Walker is a TE 1. He had 8 receptions for 109 yards against the Jags on Thursday Night Football. He got off to a slow start, but he’s picking it up real quick.

Defense

Kansas City Chiefs (vs. SD) – The Chiefs were dominant again this week against the Chargers. They had 1 touchdown, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery all for a total of 19 fantasy points

Kicker

Mason Crosby (GB vs. MIN) – Crosby was 5/5 for FGA’s and added 1 XP for a total of 22 fantasy points. Boom!!

1. Mark Sanchez (PHI vs. TB) – I was wrong for even thinking that the Eagles had a chance to win with Sanchez at the helm. He was 26/41 for 261 yards with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He picked up where Sam Bradford left off. Gross!

2. Philip Rivers (TEN vs. CAR) – No wonder Antonio Gates spazzed out at him. He was 19/30 for 178 yards, 0 touchdowns and 1 interception.

3. Ryan Fitzpatrick (NYJ vs. HOU) – Fitzpatrick would’ve been better off if he didn’t even show up. He was 19/39 for 216 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Running Backs

1. Matt Jones (WAS vs. CAR) – A week after being highly productive, Jones went out and had 5 carries for 0 yards. Smh…

2. Chris Ivory (NYJ vs. HOU) – Ivory has completely fallen off of the RB map. He had 8 carries for 36 yards. He needs to start king butt and taking names again.

3. Frank Gore (IND vs. ATL) – The Colts won, but it wasn’t because of Gore. He had 14 carries for 34 yards. Ahmad Bradshaw was more productive than him this week.

Wide Receivers

1. Amari Cooper (OAK vs. DET) – Cooper had 1 reception for 4 yards. This was a very un-Cooper like performance. I’ll forgive him.

2. Jordan Matthews (PHI vs. TB) – Matthews has had a terrible year. He had 4 receptions for 13 yards against the Bucs, but all of the Eagles sucked in this one.

3. Rishard Matthews (MIA vs. DAL) – 1 reception for 15 yards – Matthews couldn’t get anything going here. Let’s see if he can get things together next week.

Tight Ends

1. Jacob Tamme (ATL vs. IND) – 1 reception for 16 yards – Tamme has been pretty good up until this point. He should rebound in his next game, so give him another chance.

2. Martellus Bennett (CHI vs. DEN) – 2 receptions for 26 yards – Bennett is almost invisible for the Bears this year, which is not good.

Defense

Philadelphia Eagles (vs. TB) – The Eagles gave up 45 points to TB, which was good for -6 fantasy points.

Here’s a team picture of the Eagles defense…

That says it all…

Kicker

Greg Zuerlein (STL vs. BAL) – Zuerlein missed his 1 FGA and accounted for a whopping 0 fantasy points. That’s a killer!

Here’s a brief look at the results of Week 11 in the PhillyInfluencer.com Fantasy Football league:

PiFF

In a battle of the PI veterans, 215 Sean (@Sean_Brace) was able to take down the Editor-In-Chief, Cunning Stunts (@nickpiccone) 83-75. It was only a battle for pride, but the W was all that mattered. Meanwhile, I was able to bring my record to 5-6 after winning my third game in a row, this time taking down Victorious Secret. This W felt real good. Still, I need a lot of breaks to go my way if I want to have a shot at sneaking in the playoffs. Lastly, Minitron’s Juice Stand (@Anthony_DiBona) was able to bring his record to 6-5, with a win over Team 34 1/2.
