Chip Kelly Reportedly “Almost Universally Despised” by the Locker Room

The saga continues. Another former Eagles player has now come forward and stated that Chip Kelly is “almost universally despised” in the locker room, per Matt Lombardo for NJ Advance Media.

The former Eagles player, who spoke to Lombardo on the condition of anonymity, said that Kelly likely was undone mostly because of the negative locker room culture. This would jive with what Ed Werder reported and what Jason La Confora said regarding the “warped culture” in the locker room. Brian Westbrook even gave his thoughts on what a locker room should be like, which is completely the opposite of what we’re hearing about Kelly’s locker room.

It’s incredible that all of this dirty laundry is coming to light now. But, is it really surprising? Here’s what the player had to say per Lombardo.

“I know there were reports that Chip lost the locker room this season. I can tell you, he never had the support of the team this year. It was a toxic situation from the moment I arrived. Those guys in that locker room almost universally despised him.”

Perhaps this is why Jeffrey Lurie made the decision he’s made at this time.
