Eagles Could Be Forced to Participate in HBO’s Hard Knocks Next Season

The Eagles’ season is, for all intents and purposes, over. Sunday’s game against the Giants means nothing – well, except for the fact that the loser of the game heads to London next season. It also gives us a chance to look at next season before this season is technically even over. And that’s what we’re gonna do.

The NFL can force any team to have HBO cover their training camp for their Hard Knocks series, that is, if there are no volunteering teams. The Eagles, with Chip Kelly at the helm, are probably not even thinking about that right now, let alone volunteer for the show. That’s where the NFL comes into play.

There’s no doubt that the Eagles are the type of team that HBO would love to cover, given the city, the fan base, the coach and the drama surrounding the team this past season. Here are the three guidelines each team must meet in order to not be considered for the show: Make the playoffs in one of the previous two seasons, have a new head coach, and already appearing on the show in the previous 10 years. The Eagles don’t fit any of those bills.

Other teams that currently fit the bill for Hard Knocks along with the Eagles are the Bears, Bills, Browns, Bucs, Chargers, NY Giants, Jaguars, Niners, Raiders, Rams, Saints and Titans. Unless any of these teams fire their head coach after this season.

Please, NFL. Force Chip and the Eagles to be on. Then, when the team finishes 4-12 next year, we have another excuse to fall back on.
