Charles Barkley: ESPN Is Famous for Race-Baiting

Charles Barkley was on the Dan Le Batard show today and he came out swinging at ESPN. Sir Charles pointed the finger straight at them and called them “race-baiters.” You have to listen to this.

Dan Le Batard: Charles Barkley with us now on ESPN Radio. He went on Dan Patrick yesterday and was talking about those fools on ESPN Radio. What fools you talking about? Me? Who are these fools you’re talking about on radio that you say were being fools?

Charles Barkley: No, no, no. I said they got fools that work for ESPN who want to make this race – this whole quarterback thing about race – because they got radio shows. And I stand by that and I mean that. Just because, first of all, the easiest way to have a conversation on a radio show is to bring up race, because race is a serious issue. But you got clowns on ESPN who want to make the Super Bowl about black, white, good guy against the bad guy. You all know who they are. ESPN is famous for race-baiting.

Le Batard: What are you talking about? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa who is famous for race-baiting? What are we talking about?

Barkley: ESPN. ESPN. When you bring up race or throw code words, like ‘Cam’s a villain’ – you know Cam had to talk about it yesterday about being African-American. I mean, you know that’s going to spark debate. Can’t he just be a great quarterback? And there are people who don’t like Cam because he’s black. You can’t prove it, but you know it. But just don’t make the Super Bowl about black, white, good against bad. Because race is a serious issue. And I know y’all want ratings. I understand that. But race is too serious of an issue to be flippant about it. That was my point and I stick by that.

Do you agree? For what it’s worth, Barkley works for TNT, but these comments carry a little more weight than just a station vs. station war.

You can always create headlines by allowing racists to confirm each other’s thoughts. Look at the comment section of Crossing Broad.

Julian Edelman is far worse. Acts like the toughest guy on the field

Charles is right. Another example was when ESPN intimated that Lovie Smith would have been givein more time in Tampa if he was white. I liked Lovie and I was disappointed when he was fired. But Schiano got fired with 3 more wins than Lovi – both in 2 years.
And the Bucs have hired 3 Black head coaches
