NFL Not Happy with the Eagles

The NFL is reportedly disappointed with the Eagles because it believes the team used their interview with Duce Staley to manipulate the Rooney Rule, which requires NFL teams to interview at least one minority candidate in their head coaching search. We speculated about the possibility of Staley’s interview being just that, because he certainly hasn’t been the frontrunner to land the head coaching job according to reports.

Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole says the NFL is disappointed because they truly believe the Eagles interviewed Staley to get the interview out of the way so they can hire whoever they want as head coach.

According to Cole, Staley requested the interview and believes he is one of the best candidates, and the organization felt like they owed it to him to give him that interview. Staley is one of few coaches that remained on the staff when Andy Reid left for Kansas City, and the organization seems to really like him being around, so I tend to believe this was a real interview and Lurie and Roseman really wanted to see how Staley would react.

Now, if he doesn’t land the job, which many think he won’t, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s retained on the coaching staff.

Why are the Eagles not interviewing Stanford Head Coach David Shaw??? The guy wins and plays a pro style offense which is hard to find at colleges and universities these days.
