According to Ed Werder, Duce Staley has interviewed for the Eagles’ head coaching vacancy. The interview reportedly took place yesterday.
If there’s truth to the reports that Lurie wanted to get a head start on the hot coaching candidates coming this offseason, then this interview with Staley is nothing more than an attempt to already meet the “Rooney Rule.” The Rooney Rule states that each team hiring a new head coach must interview one minority in their search. And that guideline has already been met.
Either a smooth move by Lurie, or a laughable one. Or both. Yeah, probably both. I’m on the Hue Jackson bandwagon, anyway. Let’s go Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeee!
