Brett Brown Gives His Take on the Draft and Free Agency

One of the most difficult jobs is held by Sixers coach Brett Brown. However, for the turd platter that he was dealt when he first came on as coach, he’s done a hell of a job so far. Hopefully, he’ll remain in the long-term plans for the Sixers because I think if given the proper opportunity to succeed, along with some legit players, he could make some magic happen for this team.

Brown recently sat down with Comcast SportsNet’s Amy Fadool to discuss draft season, free-agency and the future. Here’s what he had to say courtesy of CSNPhilly.com.

“That’s when I go into overdrive. This is my 15th year in the league. I use this analogy of speed chess when I speak to people about the NBA draft. You have five minutes and you’re on the clock. Maybe the Lakers or Celtics or whoever pick who you wanted. So you have to have plan B, C, D and E. You’ve got phones buzzing with money and draft picks and trade opportunities. It’s very hectic. Think of the importance. You can take Sam Bowie or you can choose [Michael] Jordan. Or you can choose Greg Oden or Kevin Durant. Needles move that night.”

Sam Bowie and Greg Oden… ugh!

Here’s more of what Brown had to say.

The Sixers are sitting at 8-45 on the season at the All-Star break, which is good for worst record in the NBA. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get Ben Simmons in the draft.
