Jahlil Okafor Gets Fined for His Reckless Driving

We told you back in November of last year how Jahlil Okafor was caught driving 108 miles per hour over the Ben Franklin Bridge. Mind you, the bridge is a 45 mph zone, but screw it, apparently Okafor’s motto is YOOOOOLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOO.

The Inquirer‘s Michael Boren is now reporting that Okafor was fined $439 for the incident. Okafor was able to escape without having to do any community service.

The Camden County judge ruled on Thursday that an initial plea deal offered to Okafor is valid. Okafor recently sat down with ESPN.com’s Robert Sanchez and spoke candidly about the incident. Here’s what Okafor had to say:

A friend and I were leaving, and I was on the bridge. It was open. Oh, man. My car just goes really fast without kinda knowing. I was obviously speeding. It wasn’t a super-bad situation. I got pulled over by the police officer. He gave me a ticket. It’s obviously not the safest thing.”

We’ve all done stupid things in our lives before, some more than others, so Jah shouldn’t be crucified for this. Take a listen to the full interview.

Hopefully all of these incidents are behind Okafor now. He could be a huge part of this team for years to come if he can just stay out of trouble … and if Hinkie doesn’t get rid of him.
