More Signs Are Pointing to the Eagles Re-Signing Sam Bradford

Yesterday, we told you how the Eagles were making a push to re-sign Sam Bradford before the start of free agency on March 9, or before Tuesday at 4 P.M., when the ability for the team to use their franchise and transition tags expires, effectively making Bradford a true free agent.

Today, rumors have been swirling that Bradford’s agent, Tom Condon, would be meeting with the Eagles, or already has met with the Eagles. Not long ago, Benjamin Allbright, who’s a guy that’s been attached to some NFL news over the years – not always accurate – tweeted this:

And, of course, it was picked up locally. Les Bowen, who said nothing seemed to be imminent, said that the Eagles are making a “real push” to keep Bradford.

Bowen also writes that it looks more and more like the Eagles will re-sign Bradford.

A source close to the situation said agent Tom Condon and Eagles vice president Howie Roseman hadn’t conferred by midafternoon Monday, but the source felt they would speak before the day was over. Condon and Roseman met in Indianapolis last week, at the NFL Scouting Combine, where FOX Sports reported the Eagles increased an initial offer in an attempt to get the deal done.

It seems increasingly likely the Eagles will bring back Bradford, 28, and that the money might be well below the $20 million a year projections that were being made when the offseason began. The other options don’t look great for either side.

Howard Eskin thinks the deal, which is now apparently gaining more and more steam to get done, will be about $15 million a year.

And Joe Banner (!) thinks there’s over a 90% chance Bradford returns to Philly.

All I know is that Jordan Matthews seems pretty happy for whatever lies ahead.
