USA Today Predicts the Phillies to Finish Tied with the Worst Record in MLB This Season

I’m not sure why people think the Phillies will be just as bad this coming season as they’ve been in recent years. The trades Ruben Amaro, Jr. made before he was fired actually set up the team pretty well for the future. I think they’re in a lot better position now than they were one year ago, and new general manager Matt Klentak showed some guts by trading away the best player on the team in December, Ken Giles.

USA Today isn’t on board, though. They published their 2016 projections today, and they have the Phillies tied with the Reds as having the worst record in MLB.

Yeah, I’d say 61 wins is pretty low. I’m gonna go out on a limb now and say the Phillies win more than 80 games this season. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to pimp this post in October after they win their 81st game.

Dream on. I’ll be surprised if they win 66 games. But there is hope for a few years down the road from the Hamels and Giles trades
