Shayne Gostisbehere Made an Amazing Play That Led to the Flyers Winning Last Night

Claude Giroux got credit for the game-winning goal last night with overtime winding down against the Winnipeg Jets, but it’s the play that Shayne Gostisbehere made to save the puck from being turned over in the offensive zone that really should be highlighted.

Giroux and Gostisbehere were on a 2-on-1 break and when Giroux tried to pass to a wide open Ghost, a Jets player’s stick got in the way and almost knocked the puck away. But Ghost, with that tremendous stick-eye-hand coordination, was able to gain control of the puck and slide it to Giroux for a one-on-one confrontation with the goalie. The good guy won.

Damn it, I love Jim Jackson calling Flyers hockey.

Here’s some reaction from the locker room after the game.

The Flyers are now two points behind the Islanders for the seventh playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and currently are holding onto the eighth and final playoff spot after the Red Wings defeated the Sabres, 3-2. The Flyers still have a game in hand on the Red Wings, also. Next game is tomorrow night when the Presidents’ Trophy-winning  Capitals visit town.
