Sean Couturier Reportedly out for the Remainder of the Series against the Capitals

We showed you last night the hit by Alex Ovechkin that sidelined Sean Couturier in the second period for the rest of the game. Now, it turns out he could miss the remainder of the series, according to CSN Philly’s Tim Panaccio.

Couturier did not return because of an upper-body injury, Flyers general manager Ron Hextall announced, and will be re-evaluated Friday. An official update is expected Friday.

However, a league source tells CSNPhilly.com’s Tim Panaccio that Couturier will miss the remainder of the series with an AC sprain in his left shoulder.

It’s a huge blow if Couturier can’t play again in this series, and that’s kind of understating the enormity of the situation. Couturier is the only player on the roster that has a chance at containing Ovechkin, which in turn gives the Flyers a better chance at trying to upset the best hockey team in the league, statistically. If he misses the remainder of the series, it might be an early exit from the postseason for the Flyers.
