Shayne Gostisbehere Named to NHL All-Rookie Team, Comes in Second for Calder Trophy

Shayne Gostisbehere had as good a chance as anyone to win the NHL’s Calder Trophy last night at the NHL Awards. In fact, many believed he was the frontrunner due to his amazing season since being called up from the Phantoms.

But, that wasn’t to be. Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin won the honor as the league’s best rookie, receiving 88 first-place votes to Ghost’s 33. Despite setting Flyers franchise records and leading all defensemen in almost every offensive category, Gostisbehere didn’t bring home the hardware.

However, Ghost had something to smile about at night’s end as he was named to the NHL All-Rookie team for this past season. Here’s the All-Rookie team:

Congratulations to Ghost and I’m sure we’ll see him continue to dominate next season with hopefully a better defensive partner.
