What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: September 23 – 25

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Weekday Events That Run Through The Weekend

1. Salsa Night at the Piazza


Where: Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons, 1001 N 2nd St.
When: Friday, September 23rd, 7PM

Embracing Hispanic Heritage Month, The Schmidt’s Commons will be hosting a salsa night. Presented by Siempre Salsa Philly and the Philadelphia Dance Foundation, the event will surely surge the community with vibrant live music. There will be a free salsa dance lesson at the beginning and then a salsa dance party for all to close out the night.

2. Reading Terminal Market OysterFest

Where: Reading Terminal Market, 51 N 12th St.
When: Friday, September 23rd, 7PM-9PM

Molly Malloy’s and Pearl’s Oyster Bar team up with Reading Terminal Market to bring you OysterFest this Friday. There will be a multitude of different oysters including Sweet Amalia, Forty North, Cape May Salt, and more. There will also be plenty of local craft beers from Yards Brewery to Evil Genius. Tickets are $50 and the proceeds will benefit the Strawberry Mansion Learning Center.

3. Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Friday, September 23rd, 8PM

If you follow Puff Daddy on Snapchat, you may feel like you’ve seen a good portion of the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour already. The nationwide tour makes its stop in Philadelphia this Friday at the Wells Fargo Center. The lineup includes Lil Kim, Mase, Faith Evans, DMX, 112, and more. This Bad Boy party will bring many of the epic hits in hip-hop and R&B to the masses. It’s a can’t-miss musical attraction of the weekend that showcases one of the most energetic entertainers in all of music.

4. Museum Day Live!

Where: Various museums
When: Saturday, September 24th, various times

In celebration with Smithsonian Magazine, Museum Day Live offers free entrance to several museums for two. This will be an event that is mirrored in several cities nationwide. Participating museums include the African American Museum, Penn Museum, Academy of Natural Sciences, The National Museum of Jewish History, and more. 5. Philly Free Streets

Where: Front & South St areas to West Fairmount
When: Saturday, September 24th, 8AM-1PM

Philadelphia is inviting its citizens and visitors to embrace the newly crisp fall weather and get out in the streets. Several bustling and busy street corners will be closed to vehicles downtown. The city wants people to get active by either walking or riding a bike. This street closure gives people the opportunity to explore, enjoy, and closely examine the areas that are sometimes relegated to moving pictures on their car windows.

6. Citizens Bank Park Spartan Race


Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Park Way
When: Saturday, September 24th, 7:30AM

Citizens Bank Park will host this leg of the Stadium Series Spartan Sprint. The event will have a three-mile open-air course. There will be over 20 obstacle challenges including rigorous stairways, deep tunnels, and fast-paced crawls. This Reebok sponsored event challenges everyone in The City of Brotherly Love to come out and beat the fastest recorded time of 40 minutes. Tickets start at $139 and are just $10 for spectators.

7. Fairmount Park in a New Light


Where: Boathouse Row, 1 Boathouse Row
When: Saturday, September 24th, 5PM-10PM

Fairmount Park Conservancy presents and hosts this celebration of the re-lighting of Boathouse Row. The luminous extravaganza will also be joined by a street fair. There will be food, activities, games, drinks, and more as this treasured event lines the Delaware River this Saturday. Come and watch the horizons ignite at this beloved area and riverbank in the city

8. UpToberfest Oktoberfest 


Where: Uptown Beer Garden, 1735 Market Street
When: Saturday, September 24th-Sunday, September 25th, 2PM-12AM

Uptown Beer Garden celebrates Oktoberfest with this fall celebration. There will be sizable bars, live music, games, pretzels, wurst, Spazel, Schnitzel, and more cuisine. Attendees will receive a keepsake 1 liter beer boot mug. There will be a wide variety of beer and drink selections for all. This is a great event to unwind and experience all the joys that Oktoberfest has to offer.

9. Mid-Autumn Chinatown Festival


Where: 10th and Arch Street.
When: Saturday, September 24th, 11:45AM-6PM

Each year, a sea of people gather in Chinatown under the full moon to celebrate old cultural traditions. This communal gathering brings all generations together to pitch in and create an atmosphere of unity and cooperation. There will be food vendors, arts, performances, a dragon dance, a lantern parade, and more fun activities for all.

10. Amy Schumer Live


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Saturday, September 24th, 7PM

Comedian Amy Schumer brings her stand-up show to the Wells Fargo Center this weekend. The New York native is the creator of her award-winning sketch comedy series on Comedy Central, Inside Amy Schumer. Schumer also released a Comedy film Trainwreck last year. Come to the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday night for some laughs and her patented sharp commentary.

11. Brazilian Day Philadelphia


Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S Columbus Blvd.
When: Sunday, September 25th, 12PM-6PM

The PECO Multicultural Series continues this weekend with the Brazilian Day Festival. The event celebrates Brazilian Independence Day and promotes the concepts of unity throughout the entire country’s diaspora. Project Capoeira is a main pillar in the cultivation of this festival that seeks to enrich and preserve this great culture. There will be authentic food, dancing, performances, live music, merchandise, and several other alluring activities.

12. Philadelphia Eagles vs Pittsburg Steelers

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1020 Pattison Ave.
When: Sunday, September 25th, 4:30PM

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0, have a young fantastic quarterback, and are on the rise. This Sunday their raucous fan base will be in full mania as the Pittsburg Steelers come to Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be between two undefeated teams and will be the highlight of every Philadelphian’s Sunday evening. Don’t just enjoy your free Dunkin Donuts coffee on Monday morning, come down to the stadium or try out a local bar that will certainly be broadcasting the game.
