Joel Embiid Makes His First Road Start, Sixers Still Get Smashed

Joel Embiid’s first road start came with some problems.

James Harden was an even bigger problem for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Harden scored 23 of his 33 points in the first quarter and the Houston Rockets cruised to a 115-88 win over the Sixers on Monday night.

Embiid had 13 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes, but committed six turnovers.

Give the big man props for hustling after his own mistakes, barreling into the front row of seats on this play in the opening frame.

There weren’t many highlights, except this halfcourt shot from T.J. McConnell at the end of the first quarter.

Ersan Ilyasova tied Embiid for the team lead with 13 points to go with six rebounds. Dario Saric added 11 points and six boards and Jahlil Okafor netted just four points on 2-of-11 shooting for the Sixers, who trailed by as many as 29 and fell to 1-9 on the season.
