Brian Baldinger Believes the Eagles are Far from Being Playoff Contenders

The Philadelphia Eagles are a 6-9 football team. They say you are what your record says you are, but some people look at the plus-22 point differential the Eagles have and believe they are closer to being a playoff team than they are not.

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger disagrees.

I agree with Baldinger on his assessment that the Eagles need playmakers, especially when comparing the roster to the rest of the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys have Ezekiel Elliott, Dez Bryant and Cole Beasley, the Giants have Odell Beckham and potential with Paul Perkins and Sterling Sheppard and the Washington Redskins have Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed.

Philadelphia needs at least two wide receivers and a running back. And that’s just the offensive side of the ball. On defense, the Birds needs multiple cornerbacks.

It might take more than one offseason to fill all the holes on the roster. They do have Carson Wentz, however, and if he continues to take major strides forward, it’s amazing how a franchise quarterback can mask a lot of those kinks.
