Fantasy Football: Week 17 Stars and Stiffs

As much as I despise the infamous 17th week of Fantasy Football, I still have to attempt to find the hidden jewels within the trash heap of talent that is left after snap counts, minute restrictions and healthy scratches. The Pittsburgh Steelers are sitting their crown jewels and America’s TeamTM is still fumbling with the decision of how much to play their stars in Philly. In the end, you will still be able to latch onto some talent, but it may have to come from a deeper analysis and perspective.

As always, I look forward to your opinions and feedback. You can tweet me with any questions (@TCutillo23) and leave your comments below. For my statistical hounds out there I will put last week’s stats in parentheses so you can see how I performed. Here are my picks for Week 17:

WEEK 17 STARS (Last week: 4 out of 8) (Miller DNP)

QB: Drew Brees (@ATL), Aaron Rodgers (DET)

RB: Chris Ivory (@IND), Jacquizz Rodgers (CAR), Isaiah Crowell (@PIT)

WR/TE: Steve Smith (@CIN), Adam Thielen (CHI), Travis Kelce (@SD), Brandin Cooks (@ATL)

WEEK 17 STIFFS (Last week: 5 out of 8)

QB: Sam Bradford (CHI), Joe Flacco (@CIN)

RB: Rob Kelley (NYG), Jerick McKinnon (CHI), LeGarrette Blount (@MIA)

WR/TE: Jeremy Maclin (@SD), Sterling Shepard (@WAS), Kelvin Benjamin (@TB)

SLEEPERS (Last week: 0 out of 3)

Darren Sproles (DAL), DeAngelo Williams (CLE), Mohamed Sanu (NO)

BUST ALERT (Last week: 2 out of 3)

Tom Brady (@MIA), Michael Crabtree (@DEN), C.J. Fiedorowicz (@TEN)

WEEK 17 TRIPLE THREAT

Drew Brees (@ATL): With Atlanta already in the postseason and Brees set out to finish strong amid all the Sean Payton Trade rumors, this has the chance to be the highest scoring game of the week.

David Johnson (@LAR):One of the only true elite RBs on the board for Week 17. This is the MVP of this fantasy year and the thoroughbred you want to hitch your saddle to for the future. I sense a #1 overall rating in 2017!

Jordy Nelson (@DET):The Knee of Nelson is finally healed and he has turned back the clock to 2014 when he was at his best. With the discount double check in full effect, the patrons of Ford field will see a performance even Megatron would clap to.

As always you can stop by my Facebook page (FantasySportsAddcition) or tweet me (@TCutillo23) for questions or some nice fantasy debates. I can also be heard weekly via the internet stream live at WengRadio every Monday at 4:00pm EST for a weekend sports wrap. But most importantly, you can catch me here at Pi!

For fantasy purposes, all my articles are predicated upon a PPR-based system.
