Predictions for Eagles-Bengals Week 13

It’s a must-win for the Birds today. The NFC is just too jumbled for the Eagles to slip up here, especially against a Bengals team without their best offensive weapons in AJ Green and [somewhat] Giovani Bernard. What do we think’s gonna happen today in Cincinnati? Let’s hit it.

Ray Hagan:
I think I actually am beginning to hate this team. The start to this season was like the preseason last year. It built up expectations. I let my guard down, and then… BAM! They punched me right in the face. From the wide receivers that make me long for James Thrash and Todd Pinkston to the fumbles to the coach who seems to not be able to call a game after his scripted plays run out, I’m fed up.

I have no idea if this team is half good, half bad, flawed or completely screwed. Somehow the losses still surprise me. So this week, they’ll surprise me again most likely. But screw it.

Eagles 23-17.

Tony Cutillo:
In this weekend’s matchup we have a battle between two teams desperately looking for a spark. Lucky for Marvin Lewis he gets to go up against Doug Pederson to give everyone the false sense of hope that the Bengals have it all figured out. I hate to say it, but I do not think Dougie P has the right frame of mind this year to win games and I don’t think he ever will. I know I have been very opinionated, but if you haven’t learned by now, it’s my style.

So with an overpaid D-Line, a lack of talent at the WR position and a coach who has shown he has no idea what he is doing at times, I have a hard time picking the Birds to pull out any sort of a victory. So hang your hat onto this one, Marv, and enjoy it while it lasts!

Bengals 21-9.

Candis McLean:
Last week, we were facing a very similar scenario. There was a desperate team, spiraling through a multiple game losing streak, with disaster on both sides of the ball. We were outcoached, embarrassed, and, for the first time all year, beaten at home. The Bengals will be without top wide receiver threat in Green but they still have a good run game, a playmaker at TE, and a solid defense. On the other hand, the most consistent thing we have as a team is Caleb Sturgis. The Bengals have lost all of their previous three matchups by a small margins and quite frankly, I have no faith in Doug Pederson or this team.

Bengals 28-10.

Dave Uram:
With their backs against the wall, the Eagles will play like they did in Weeks 1 through 3. Fletcher Cox will emerge from the abyss and someone on offense will have a huge day. The Birds’ slim playoff hopes will remain alive, only to tease you for the very next week when Washington routes the Eagles at The Linc.

Eagles 27-17.

Tyler Trumbauer:
Monday night’s loss to Green Bay nearly sent all of the Eagles playoff hopes to bed, which makes the rest of this season a little less meaningful than before. This sets up perfectly for the Eagles to play well. The Birds seem to always step up and play better when nothing is really on the line. Couple that with the fact that Cincinnati is missing their best wide receiver and that it’s also later in the season – the perfect Andy Dalton faltering time – screams to me that the Eagles should be favored to win this one. For the first time in a long time, I am picking the Eagles to win a game, despite the injuries, as I think the defense will return to its early season identity and the offense will do just enough to squeeze this one out.

Eagles 20-17.

Adrian Fedkiw:
Despite the Eagles’ road struggles, I feel like this one in Cincinnati is winnable. If Pederson gets back to running the football on a consistent bases against a defense that hasn’t been able to stop it all year and wins the time of possession battle, Philadelphia should be able to win this game. The losses of Green are Bernard are key for the Bengals too.

Eagles 24-20.

Nick Piccone:
Bengals suck. Worse than the Eagles. Carson Wentz flies high today.

Eagles 31-13.

Sean Brace:
The Eagles need a win in the worst way. Only problem is, you need playmakers to win games in the NFL and the Birds are lacking just that. The Bengals are dreadful, but it’s a home game, giving them just enough motivation to come out on top. Ugly, sloppy game is what we’ll see. And another Eagles L.

Bengals 23-17.
