Could the Eagles Be Targeting Three Wide Receivers This Offseason?

Howie Roseman referenced cornerback as a Philadelphia Eagles offseason priority, but did reminisce in his Dolerean machine back to when the Birds were leading the NFL in 20-plus yard plays.

Thanks Chip.

Adam Caplan was on 97.5 The Fanatic Monday and reported that the Eagles expect to bring in three new wide receivers.

You can listen to Caplan’s entire interview here.

That would definitely be understanding, yet understandable. The NFL Draft has more talent and depth at the cornerback position than wide receiver, that’s where the Eagles might turn to one of the free-agent wideouts like a DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery or Terrell Pryor. They can either ink a pair of free agents, or lock up one of those wideouts along with two more in the middle rounds of the draft. Mike Williams, Corey Davis or John Ross can also be options in the first round, but the talent is better at cornerback.

Philly is clearly trying to get its wide receiving corps squared away. It fired wide receiver coach Greg Lewis Monday.

Second-year wideout Dorial Green-Beckham was a disappointment and Nelson Agholor didn’t take any leaps forward from a disastrous rookie season. He had just 36 receptions for 365 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles were 24th in receiving yards and caught the third fewest touchdowns with 16.

Upgrades certainly need to be made.
