Howie Roseman and Joe Douglas Were in the WIP Studios This Morning to Discuss the NFL Draft

Howie Roseman hinted during his end-of-season press conference that the Philadelphia Eagles will attack the cornerback position this offseason. Wide receiver is obviously a huge need as well.

But what about the NFL Draft, which is in Philadelphia this year?

The vice president of football operations Roseman and vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas were in the WIP studios Monday on Angelo Cataldi’s Morning Show to discuss some draft philosophy.

Roseman, of course, also announced during that presser that Douglas will lead the draft room. I referenced the holes that the Birds have at cornerback and wide receiver, but it’ll be about taking the best player available in the draft, according to Douglas.

We’re not going to pass up a potential Hall Of Fame player, or a Pro Bowl player. At the end of the day we’re gonna take the best available player

Roseman chimed in as well.

Carson Wentz comes off an up-and-down rookie campaign where his lack of weapons was noticeable. Will he have some say when it pertains to which wideout the Eagles will select? Roseman said that the team wants to make sure he’s “on board” with whom the Birds bring in via free agency or the draft.

We want to make sure he’s on board with some of these things, probably more free agency than the draft because it’s hard for him to get caught up on the draft prospects.

And here’s the video clip of that question.

The Eagles will pick either No. 14 or 15 in the first round, depending on a coin flip. You can check out some more video clips and listen to the entire interview below.
