The Morning Brew for Jan. 19, 2017: Chip to Jax, Inauguration

Happy Thursday, folks! I hope you are enjoying these Morning Brews as much as I am writing them. This one is a mixture of both politics and sports as well as other news items mixed in, in honor of the inauguration taking place on Friday. I implore you all to watch it, regardless of political view, as it is always a historic event.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Last Brew I wrote about Chip Kelly being in the mix for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching position before the team hired Doug Marrone. Now, it appears Chipper may still get a job in the NFL with the Jags, just a few offices down the hallway. [The Oregonian]

The Presidential Inauguration is a multi-day event with concerts, parades, balls, and of course the swearing in of the new President of the United States. Stay up on what is happening and when. A lot of the events are free, if you are interested in going, or are streamed online or on a TV channel. [New York Times]

Alex Rodriguez, the former MLBer turned MLB player on steroids turned washed-up MLB player turned Fox Sports analyst, is now hosting a show on CNBC where he helps athletes with their money. [Awful Announcing]

A college basketball coach went through the handshake line alone after a post-game scrum and the other team vacated the court. [H/T Deadspin]

A Pennsylvania high school girls basketball coach went into the stands after a spectator, during a game, who was heckling him and his players.

The Baseball Hall of Fame has three new members. (By the way, if you haven’t made it to Cooperstown, do it.)

Just on more NFL head coach opening remains, the San Francisco 49ers. It appears they have their man, just not officially. [NFL.com]

And to give you strength to finish the week strong, here is a video of first lady Michelle Obama playing with the first family’s dogs for one final time in the White House before President Obama’s time as POTUS ends.
