‘What the Hell!?’: Scariest Prank Ever, Teen Sets Passenger on Fire, and “How ‘Bout That”

Each week, a collection of the most diverse, obscene, and interesting social media and news stories will be compiled. Feel free to Tweet us or email us at [email protected] any of the crazy things you see trending or come across during your day.

Surprisingly January is almost at an end. The Senior Bowl is more relevant than the Pro bowl, Netflix keeps reviving old shows, alternative facts are everywhere, and the title The Last Jedi has you spooked. Trends, media, and thanks to Mother Nature, literal chaos, has been the staple of the past few days. Here’s few things  that are more shocking, confusing, or entertaining  than people’s love for the McDonald’s Super Bowl 50 piece nugget special:

1. Tom Brady Revenge Quest

Deflategate was the talk of the NFL all last year. The scandal spawned from the 2015 AFC Championship game unleashed an ultimate battle between Tom Brady and Patriots fans vs. everyone else. Here we sit in 2017 and the Patriots QB is in the Super Bowl spotlight yet again. It didn’t take long for sports fans to consider what would happen if the Patriots win the big game over a week from now. It would require NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the man who suspended Brady, to hand the greatest trophy in the sport to Brady. All eyes will certainly be on the platform if that’s the case. So many scenarios have been concocted to emulate this moment. Here’s one of the best:

2. “Catch Me Outside How Bout That”

The Dr. Phil daytime talk show and has been a staple on CBS for quite some time. Similar to most  productions, the show can be filled with some crazy and entertaining stories. This week a segment about out of control teens resurfaced and went viral. The mother of a teen in the video claims she steals her car, gets violent with her, and is ultimately  unstable. The girl said many unbelievable things throughout the interview. Nothing was better than when she got frustrated with the constant laugher of the audience and stated, “Catch me outside how ’bout that.” Yes, the 13-year old wanted to fight the whole audience. The line, like so many things in social media, has since become a meme, the video has been shared and re-made countless times, and the clip has been turned into a song.

3. Scariest Prank Ever

I want to say this right now: The Ring was the scariest movie of my childhood. I literally counted down the seven days after seeing the film as a precaution. Seeing this prank sent chills through me as I can only imagine my reaction. Paramount Pictures’ latest way to promote their new installment of  The Ring was to release this undercover clip. It displays a shop owner showing seemingly unknown customers televisions. When left alone, the customers find themselves staring at a vision beyond anything 4K displays can provide. The title character, Samara, played by an actress seems to pop out the screen. Watch here:

4. A Heckling Billboard

For smokers of the world, they’ve seen the spaces where they can smoke publicly dwindle over the years. A Swedish drugstore, Apotek Hjärtat, pushes it even further with this New Year’s Resolution themed billboard. The interactive screen is lined with smoke detectors. When a person comes near the structure, sparks the end of a cigarette, and lights it, the screen comes alive. The person on the image begins to cough and choke. The marketing director behind the campaign stated that it was “one of the most cost-effective campaigns I’ve ever made.” As you can see below, it took a while for bystanders to figure out what was going on.

5. Passenger Gets Set On Fire Aboard Train

This is one of the scariest things you can imagine. A man fell asleep on the New York City MTA G train this past Friday and woke up to insanity. After leaving his girlfriend’s home late night, Piotr Olszewski, nodded off on the train. When he opened his eyes, teenager Christopher Jackson, had set him on fire and was attempting to videotape it. The teen has a history of arson arrests. Pawel Olszewski, Piotr’s brother, told the New York Daily News,  “The worst thing is the person who lit him on fire stayed there and recorded it. He never left the scene. He was actually happy about it.” The teen was later heard laughing and bragging about the attempt when aid showed up. He then tried to pretend he was a concerned passenger before being detained.
