What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: Feb. 10-12

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. 1.Merriam Theater’s iLuminate


Where: Merriam Theater, 250 S Broad St.
When: Friday, February 10th 8PM and Saturday, February 11th 3PM and 8PM

The Kimmel Center presents this spectacular show. Finishing third in season 6 of the hit show America’s Got Talent, this group was named “the best new act in America.” The company uses visuals and technology to bursts the audience’s imagination. There will be electrified dancers wearing glow suits and much more. This will be one of the most unique performances to come to the area in a while.

2. Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention


Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Friday, February 10th 2PM-12AM, Saturday, February 11th 11AM-12AM, and Sunday, February 12th, 11AM-8PM

One of the biggest annual tattoo expos in America returns to Philadelphia this weekend. The Pennsylvania Convention Center will host the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention. Guests can pay $22 a day or $45 for a 3-day pass. There will be countless tattoo artists and installations for viewing. The convention will also be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most tattoos given in one day.

3. Trancredi


Where: Academy of Music, 240 S Broad St.
When: Friday, February 10th, 8PM and Sunday, February 12th, 2:30PM

The Philadelphia Opera brings this story of tragic and suspenseful love to the Academy of music this Friday and Sunday. The production will grace the theatrical stage for only three more dates in the month of February. Come see this beautiful Rossini piece led by opera musical director Corrado Ravaris.

4. Monster Energy Outbreak: The Cadillac Three


Where: Theater of Living Arts, 334 South St.
When: Friday, February 10th, 8PM

Monster Energy’s Outbreak tour routinely bring great acts to various city’s throughout the year. Their latest installment puts Nashville band The Cadillac Three center stage. The band released their second studio album Bury Me in My Boots in August of 2016. The album debuted on the Billboard Top Country Albums Top 5. Come hear great songs from this fantastic and emerging band.

5. Meek Mill & Friends


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Friday, February 10th, 7 PM

Philadelphia rap leader is none other than local product Meek Mill. The hip hop act headlined Powerhouse 2016. The “Ima Boss” rapper returns to the same stage this Friday night with a few of his friend. Meek always brings high energy and blazing lyrics at his homecoming shows. The crowd will be intense and you never know which guests he may surprise the arena with.

6. Family Fun Day at AAMP


Where: The African American Museum in Philadelphia, 701 Arch St.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 10AM-5PM

The African American Museum keeps their Black History Month events rolling this weekend. Partnered with Macy’s, the gathering will be free for the first 250 people who register online. There will be a Hip Hop Musicology forum, a collage and printmaking workshop, jar curating, and much more. Guests can also tour the various exhibits in the museum.

7. Sweets and Stouts


Where: Blue Cross RiverRink, 101 S Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 3PM-5PM

The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest has been a seasonal favorite for months. There will be complimentary butter cream samples, free dessert samples by Garces and Chickie and Pete’s, cupcake wine samples, and a stout sampling. The stouts available will be Yards Chocolate Love, Lancater Milk, Troegs Chocolate Nitro, and more. There will be a cruise giveaway, a make your perfume station, balloon artist, and chocolate animation.

8. Valentine’s on Ice


Where: Laurel Hill Gardens, 8125 Germantown Ave.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 12PM-2PM

Chestnut Hill celebrates the season of romance and love with this fantastic ice sculpture event. World-famous ice sculptor Peter Slavin will be on hand to wow the crowd. There will be an ice bon fire celebration. Queen Elsa from the hit Disney film “Frozen” will make an appearance for a special photo opportunity. There will be complimentary hot chocolate and s’mores.

9. Freezefest 2017


Where: Barnaby’s of Ridley, 2107 MacDade Blvd. Holmes, PA
When: Saturday, February 11th, 12PM

One of the biggest annual winter festivals in Delaware County returns this weekend. Located inside of Barnaby’s 30,000 sq ft location, this extravaganza will have live bands, DJs, and several other activities. The indoor and outdoor spaces will be rocking. There will be 10 themed rooms, a massive ice luge, a food court, a photo booth, beer pong contests, giveaways, drinks specials, and more.

10. The Art of the Convo

Where: Ivben Taqiy Studios, 3232 Collins St.

When: Saturday, February 11th, 7PM-11:30PM

Sponsored by American Dreaming, The Art of the Convo will be one of the most engaging and eclectic events in Philadelphia this weekend. Creative Entrepreneur Chris Miss will helm this speaker series that stimulates personal growth, confronts social disconnect, and examines the lack of verbal harmony between people in today’s society. Saturday’s discussion will center on the root of creative inspiration, copying, innovation, and the concept of parallel thinking. Food will be provided by Chef Lex Grant.

11. Flat Track Double Header


Where: Penn Jersey Roller Derby, 1801 W Indiana Ave.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 3PM-8PM

The Penn Jersey Roller Derby is in full swing this weekend. It’s the second derby day of 2017. Come see these hard-hitting athletes get hardcore on the flat track. This Saturday boasts an interleague showdown with a Red-Black matchup and at 6 p.m. the Shenanigans will take on the Ham City Havoc. Tickets are $10.

12. Flyers vs. Sharks


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 1PM

The last time these two teams met on the ice, the Philadelphia Flyers suffered 2-0 loss to them. The Sharks made some waves this week after their social account tweeted “At least it wasn’t the Super Bowl”. The tweet came after their Tuesday night loss to the Buffalo. They come to the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday afternoon to take on Wayne Simmons and the Flyers. Bring all your energy to the WFC and let San Jose hear it.

13. 76ers vs. Heat


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 7:30PM

You watch a Sixers game, your cat sits there anxiously waiting, and by the end of the night it doesn’t get raised. This has been the Sixers faithful recent pattern of  events for over a week. The team have their hands full this Saturday night as they take on the Miami Heat. The teams squared off against each other in Miami last Saturday. Lets hope the home floor can bring better luck than a 125-102 defeat.

14. Rick Astley


Where: Electric Factory, 421 N 7th St.

When: Saturday, February 11th, 8:30PM

UK singer Rick Astley continues his worldwide tour in support of his 2016 album release 50.  The eight studio album marks his first American release since 1993. The “Never Gonna Give You Up” singer has sold over 40 million records across the globe. Come watch as Astley brings his smooth vocals and moves to The Electric Factory this Saturday night.

15. Party in Purple


Where: The Franklin Institute, 222 N 20th St.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 8PM

The Delaware Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be having their annual fundraising event this Saturday night. The Party in Purple will help to support and sustain the various activities the chapter helms throughout the year.  There will be cocktails, light fare, desserts, celebrity guests, and more. Giveaways and live entertainment will also be a signature part of this purple tie event.

16. UFC 208 at Revolutions


Where: Revolutions, 1009 Canal St.
When: Saturday, February 11th, 8PM

Bowling entertainment venue Revolutions at Penn Treaty will be hosting a UFC 208 party this Saturday night. The preliminary fights will begin at 8 p.m. and the main event will take over at 10 p.m. There will be half off appetizers, $3 Yuengling drafts, and other drink specials. This will be a great space to watch this highly anticipated championship matchup.

17. Rothman Rink Sweetheart Skate


Where: Rothman Rink and Cabin, 1 S 15th St.
When: Sunday, February 12th, 4PM-8PM

Center City District Parks has a special treat for all the lovers in the area. This event has buy-one-get-one-free admission. The romantic theme will take over the rink this Sunday. There will be love songs serenading skaters, guests will get a complimentary rose, and a keepsake photo from the photo booth. The Rothman cabin will have champagne and Chambrod drinks, Brûlée’s chocolate truffles, and heart-shaped red and white macaroons. SEPTA will also be there to the document stories of couples who found love on the transit service.

18. O-Town


Where: The Foundry, 29 E Allen St.
When: Sunday, February 12th, 6PM

2000s heartthrobs O-Town come to Philadelphia this weekend. The band was formed as a result of the ABC show “Making the Band.” The hit series marked the formation of this crew and their rise to fame. O-Town boasts two #1 singles “Liquid Dreams” and “All or Nothing.” After a 10 year separation the band has come back together to give their adoring fans the tour they’ve longed for.

19. Red Hot Chili Peppers


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S Broad St.
When: Sunday, February 12th, 7:30PM

Iconic rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be bringing their immense energy, legendary music, and full throttle sound to the Wells Fargo Center this Sunday night. The band released their eleventh studio album in 2016, The Getaway. The Los Angeles band will be playing hits from that project and more. They are one of the best-selling bands of all time, have collected six Grammys, and have achieved unparalleled Billboard Alternative Chart success.

20. It Sounds Crazy – Black History Month Edition

Where: Good Good Comedy Theater, 215 N 11th St. (11th and Race)
When: Thursday, February 16th, 8:30PM

It may not be an event this weekend, but seeing stand-up comedy is always a good decision. Next Thursday, February 16th, stand-up comic Chanel Ali is hosting a comedy show featuring the likes of Brian Isley, Elsa Waithe, Courtney Reynolds and Kerry Coddett. Ali and the others will be discussing current topics and unbelievable true stories that sound too crazy to be real. With games, stand-up and audience participation, this show offers big laughs and big revelations.
