What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: Feb. 3-5

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend:

 

1. Restaurant Week Ends


Where: Center City restaurants, various locations
When: Ends Friday, February 3rd, various times

Center City District Restaurant Week ends this Friday. The culinary celebration bridges over 100 restaurants and shops in the area. Each location has a specialty menu serving three-course lunches and dinners daily. Three-course dinners cost $35 and savory lunches can be enjoyed for $20.

2. Black History Month in Philadelphia


Where: Various locations throughout the city
When: Friday, February 3rd-Tuesday, February 28th

The National Constitution Center, Free Library of Philadelphia, African American Museum in Philadelphia, Kimmel Center, Penn Museum, and other structures throughout the city will join to shine a light on the culturally rich month of February. Be sure to look up all of the fantastic events happening daily in the city and check out the African-American historic sites in the Philadelphia.

3. Wing Bowl 25


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, February 3rd, 6AM

Can you smell the booze, wings, sweat, and insanity? This regional eating contest puts man and women against trays of everyone’s finger licking favorite: chicken wings. The 94WIP competitive eating event will take center stage this Friday in all its cringeworthy and thrilling glory.

4. Sgt. Pepper’s 50th Anniversary


Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, February 3rd-Sunday, February 5th, various times

The Philly POPs will be regaling the Kimmel Center crowd with tunes from the Beatles classic album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band this Friday evening. The weekend long concert series will be a great way to hear some iconic tunes from a legendary act.

5. Jay Pharaoh at Punch Line Philly


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, February 3rd 8PM & 10:15PM  and Saturday, February 4th 7:30PM & 9:45PM

SNL funnyman Jay Pharaoh comes to Punch Line Philly this weekend. The master celerity impersonator will light up the stage with his witty jokes, stage presence, and entertaining antics. If you wants to get in some laughs then this is the place to be.

6. Midnight Madness: Alien


Where: Ritz at The Bourse, 400 Ranstead St.
When: Friday, February 3rd, 11:59PM

Each Friday, the Ritz at the Bourse selects a classic film to screen as a part of its “Midnight Madness” series. This week, the horrifying extra-terrestrial film Alien will be the main attraction. 1979 Sigourney Weaver led movie will have you on the edge of your seat or shockingly clutching your stomach.

7. Philly Film Showcase


Where: PFS Roxy, 2023 Sansom St.
When: Friday, February 3rd, 7:30PM

Filmadelphia produces this great showcase highlighting local filmmakers. This first Friday artists screening will have Q&As , receptions, and a lineup of creators from all ages. Tickets are free but donations are always welcome. Come out and support young and up-and-coming regional talent.

8. Frogs: A Chorus of Colors


Where: The Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Saturday, February 4th-Sunday, May 14th

The Academy of Natural Sciences presents this intriguing look into the diverse and colorful spectrum of frogs. In every corner of the globe you can find these creatures cultivating innovative survival skills and inhabiting the most shocking terrain. From different hues to nighttime crawlers, this exhibit has it all.

9. Antique & CRAFT Show at Neshaminy Mall


Where: Neshaminy Mall, 707 Neshaminy Mall. Bensalem, PA
When: Saturday, February 4th, 10AM

The Neshaminy Mall is hosting a shopping jamboree and extravaganza. The local shopping center will present this large collective of local crafters and antique dealers. This fun and family friendly event supports local businesses and will give you an opportunity to purchase some unique and one of a kind pieces.

10. Cooper River Bourbon Release Party


Where: Cooper River Distillers, 34 N 4th St. Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, February 4th, 1PM-10PM

Straight across the river on the Camden Waterfront, Cooper River Bourbon Whiskey will be hosting a release party. There will be a cocktail bar, a Good Food=Good Mood food truck, and live music during the entire event. The tasting is free to enter and all stations are pay-as-you-go.

11. Super Philly Chili Bowl


Where: The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 2PM

Come to The Rotunda to sample the hard work of 21 chili makers. This local competition will bring the simmering and savory heat of this favorite dish to the area this Saturday. Guests will be able to sample the dishes and hot sauces. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary.

12. Reading Terminal Chinese New Year Celebration


Where: Reading Terminal Market, 51 N. 12th St.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 10AM-4PM

This Chinese New Year celebration will have cooking demonstrations, samples, and more. There will be calligraphy lessons, musical and dance performances by the Philadelphia Suns, and several vendors selling commemorative products. This fascinating and scrumptious annual cultural celebration is one that shouldn’t be missed.

13. Villanova Vs. St. John’s


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 8PM

The Villanova Wildcats take on the St. John’s Red Storm this Saturday night. The number 4. Wildcats take on the tough Big East opponent for the second time this season. This will be a great chance to support the local team as they look to duplicate their previous overwhelming victory this weekend.

14. Flyers vs. Kings


Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 1PM

Earlier in the day, the Flyers will take on the Los Angeles Kings at the Wells Fargo Center. The Kings have won four in a row under the leadership of a surging Jeff Carter. This game is the second of a five game home stretch for the Flyers. Come out and cheer them on.

15. Maren Morris


Where: Theater of Living Arts, 334 South St.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 8PM

Nashville country singer Maren Morris will be stopping in Philadelphia this Saturday night for The HERO Tour. Nominated for Best New Artist at the upcoming 59th annual Grammy Awards, Maren will be serenading the crowd with some greats songs from her fourth studio album. Come see the “My Church” singer at the TLA.

16. Jack Hanna Into The Wild Live


Where: The Keswick Theatre, 291 N Keswick Ave. Glenside, PA
When: Saturday, February 4th, 4PM-7PM

Jack Hanna’s Emmy award-winning production Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild comes to life this weekend. The known wildlife and enthusiast and animal conservationist will bring his marvel of a show right to our doorsteps. This animal ambassador and America’s favorite zookeeper will engage and wow the audience at this unique experience.

17. Museum Sundays


Where: The Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy and Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Saturday, February 4th, 10AM-5PM

It’s the first Sunday of the month, with means both The Barnes Foundation and the Philadelphia Museum of Art are opening their doors at discounted rates. Whether it’s the  pay-what-you-wish option or free, this is educating and exciting way to see come great artistic exhibit, pieces, and collectives.


Super Bowl Central

1. Paddy Whacks Super Bowl Pregame


Where: Paddy Whacks Irish Pub, 9241 Roosevelt Blvd.
When: 4PM-6PM

Corner Pub Sports will be doing a Super Bowl broadcast from Paddy Whacks Irish Pub this Sunday. There will be tons of pre-show talk and both this and the South Street location will be having great drink and food specials all night.

2. Punch Line Philly Pregame and Viewing Party


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: 3PM-6PM

This free to enter event will have live DJs and giveaways. Appetizers will be half-priced and they have a great 51 special. Fro $51 guests get 51 wings and your choice of two Miller Lite or Corona buckets. There are several drink specials and Dorito bowls.

3. South Street Super Bowl


Where: South Street, Headhouse District
When: 6PM

Brahaus Schmitz will have an all you can eat $25 buffet. There will also be $4 draft beer special. Bridget Foy will have $5 wings and Kenzinger drafts for $3. Whitestone will have $3 drafts, $4 wines, and $10 cocktails all night. Jon’s Bar & Grille, Ela, O’Neal’s and more will also have specials in this entertaining area of the city.

4. Bayou/Cactus Bar Super Bowl


Where: 4243 Main St.
When: 6:30PM

This Manayunk hotspot is the place to be on Super Bowl Sunday. For only $25 partygoers get a Miller Light open bar all night and a custom glass. Guests also get free chips and salsa and free Philly soft pretzels. There will be other drink and food specials  at both the Bayou Bar and Grill and The Cactus Cantina.

5. La Peg Brasserie


Where: La Peg Brasserie, 104 N. Columbus Blvd.
When: 5PM

La Peg will be broadcasting the game on the large screen in their theater. There will be drink specials from 5 p.m.-11 p.m. The eatery will have Hancock hot chicken or hot tempeh strips menus for $7 . Both menu options come with a 1/2 ranch waffle and pickles. The menu also includes $1 sides.

6. JJ Bootleggers


Where: JJ Bootleggers, 35 S. 2nd St.
When: 6PM

JJ Bootleggers will have $5 cheesesteaks and $5 wings throughout the big game. Come watch the biggest game in the world of sports on any of the many flat screens in the venue. There will be an a free 2 hour Bud Light open bar and much more.

7. His & Hers


Where: His & Hers, 216 South St.
When: 5PM

His & Hers Sports Lounge will be hosting a rocking Super Bowl LI party this Sunday. For, $25 guests will receive complimentary bar food all night long. Your ticket gets you premium beer and house wine will be served from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. There will be 2 for 1 discounted drinks later on, prizes, and a raffle.

8. Super Bowl at City Tap


Where: City House Logan, 2 Logan Square and city Tap House 39th and Walnut St.
When: 6:30PM

City Tap House’s Logan Square location brags about having the largest television in Center City. Come check out the New England Patriots take on the Atlanta Falcons on their 15 foot screen and enjoy a wide range of drink specials. Both locations will have a discounted appetizers and drinks throughout the game.

9. Valle Forge Casino Big Game Party


Where: Valley Forge Casino Resort, 1160 1st Ave. King of Prussia, PA
When: 6PM

King of Prussia’s Valley Forge Casino Resort also has a 15′ screen in its entertainment area. For $50 guests can get a bottomless buffet and an access to an open bar. There’s also a $25 option that will offer bottomless appetizers but with a cash bar.

10. BRÜ Super Bowl


Where: BRÜ Craft & Wurst, 1318 Chestnut St.
When: 6PM

Are you ready for some football? German themed BRÜ Craft & Wurst indoor bierhall will be having their very own Super Bowl LI party. There will $5 drafts of Harpoon and Sweetwater Brews, $10 house Bru made sausages, and $8 wings, and more.
