Ray Didinger Says If Dalvin Cook Is Available, the Eagles Should Take Him

Howie Roseman made it very clear during his end-of-the-year press conference that the Philadelphia Eagles will be adding a lot of cornerbacks during the offseason.

And the draft is loaded with them.

CSN Philly’s Ray Didinger, however, believes the Eagles should go a different route, at least in the first round. He is fascinated by Florida State running back Dalvin Cook. Here’s what he had to say about Cook last week on an episode of Philly Sports Talk.

I 100 percent agree with Diddy.

Since this draft is loaded with cornerbacks where you’ll be getting second-round value as late as even the fourth and fifth rounds, why not add another offensive weapon in the first? And yea I get it, the Eagles don’t draft running backs in the first round. They’ve picked up LeSean McCoy in the second round, Brian Westbrook in the third and Wilbert Montgomery in the sixth.

But Cook is explosive and he’d help the offense out immediately. He’s a perfect fit for head coach Doug Pederson’s power attack. He’s also very adept at catching the ball out of the backfield. I’d draft Cook in the first and double-up on cornerback in the second and third rounds.

The Achilles injury to Sidney Jones doesn’t help either. He was a potential first-round option and someone I was seriously interested in. I don’t think Marshon Lattimore is going to fall and I’d take Cook over the other potential cornerbacks that’d be available in the first.

With the Eagles expected to part ways with Ryan Mathews, they’re going to need a three-down back.

Cook is who they should target.
