Malcolm Jenkins on Sticking to Sports: “I Pay Taxes, Too”

This past weekend on FOX 29’s Good Day Weekend, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and his business partner Jay Amin from “Damari Savile,” stopped by to discuss the opening of their new men’s clothing store. Of course, it’s all top-notch threads from top to bottom. What I didn’t know is Jenkins is already involved with a line called “Rock Avenue Bowties.” The boy has style covered!

While Jenkins was on the couch, Lauren Johnson, host of Good Day Weekend, asked Jenkins about his role in the community, why he feels it’s necessary to speak out on certain issues, and, my favorite, what he says to people when they tell him to “stick to sports.”

Now, I know this is difficult for some of you to understand, and, most importantly, get behind. I feel it’s a small minority that feel that way and most of the time it comes from people hiding behind their keyboards. However, in this case, not sure anybody should have a problem with what Jenkins is doing on and off the field. Taking a trip to DC for a few days!? That’s what you call making a difference … no matter what. Jenkins hung out with us for a few segments on Saturday, including helping my awkward ass look good in a bow tie! Haha, not exactly sure if that happened.

Jenkins was very cool and down to earth, and from everything I have gathered since he joined the Eagles back in 2014, his actions speak louder than words. He is one athlete that I’m proud of that represents our city and our team.

Last thing, check this picture out. It was drawn by a second grader! You think athletes shouldn’t have a voice? That’s a second grader with crayons paying attention to Jenkins raising his fist. Amazing.
