What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: June 16-18

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. 1. Phillies


Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Park Way.
When: Friday, June 16th, 7PM, Saturday, June 17th, 4PM, and Sunday, June 18th, 1:30PM

The Philadelphia Phillies (21-42) will be taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks this weekend. They’ll be under the Friday night lights as the open up this three game series at home. Come on out the ballpark to see this local favorite team.

2. PhilAesthetic at the African American Museum


Where: The African American Museum in Philadelphia, 701 Arch St.
When: Thursday, June 15th-Sunday, September 17th

The exhibition PhilAesthetic: 40 Years of Collecting African American Art will open this week. This is a two-gallery exhibit that consists of beautiful imagery. There will be pop-up workshops at other locations in partnership with this cultural collective and more.

3. Sigur Rós


Where: The Mann Center for the Performing Arts, 5201 Parkside Ave.
When: Friday, June 16th, 8PM

Pop rock bank Sigur Rós will be coming to The Mann Center this Friday. The band’s brand of music is very signature, often utilizing celestial and light aesthetic. The band will be performing songs from any of their six studio albums.

4. Elvis Costello


Where: Tower Theater, 69th St. Upper Darby, PA
When: Friday, June 16th, 8PM

English singer-songwriter and musician Elvis Costello has released a whopping twenty-four solo studio albums and Manu collaborative releases. The new wave, pop, and punk rock act will be taking over the Tower Theater this Friday. Come see this phenomenal performer perform his hits.

5. Marlon Wayans


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, June 16th, 7:30PM & 9:45PM and Saturday, June 17th, 7PM & 9:15PM

Comedic household name Marlon Wayans wears many hats. He’s an actor, producer, writer, director, and more. This weekend he’ll be filling Punch Line Philly with laughter and applause with his hilarious standup routine.

6. Art Museum Area Restaurant Week


Where: Various locations
When: Friday, June 16th, 7:30PM & 9:45PM and Saturday, June 17th, 7PM & 9:15PM

Exploring the prestigious Philadelphia Museum of Art can leave you famished. Strolling down the parkway, you’re bound to find many restaurants offering most-watering meals. This coming week, through June 23rd, will be Art Museum Restaurant Week for those surrounding eateries. You will find seasonally themed meals at $15-$35 fixed prices.

7. Adventure Hunt


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 17th, 9AM-4PM

Adventure Hunt offers you this one-of-a-kind scavenger hunt experiences. You and your teammate will race through the city gathering clues and completing challenges. Prizes are with up to thousands of dollars. Registration closes Friday night so if you’re at all interested in the exciting event, now is the time to pounce.

8. Juneteenth at Historic Germantown


Where: 6300 Germantown Ave.
When: Saturday, June 17th, 11AM-8PM

The 2017 Juneteenth cultural celebration takes place at the Johnson House Historic Site. This Saturday there will be food, music, reenactments, and a beer garden. Come out and enjoy this amazing commemorative day that ends with a “Freedom Walk” parade down the avenue.

9. 40th Street Summer Concert Series


Where: 40th & Walnut St.
When: Saturday, June 17th, 6PM

University City District, Penn, and The Rotunda have collaborated to bring this fantastic musical concert series to the area. This Saturday Brian Sander will be brining his dance and physical theater production to the park. This will be a wonderful event with food, drinks, and more.

10. Philly Carnival


Where: Fairmount Park, Chamounix Drive.
When: Saturday, June 18th, 12PM-6PM

This annual Caribbean Carnival and Parade will have great food, live bands, masqueraders, dancing, and more. There will be so many breathtaking performances at this free an open to the public event. To get access to the pavilion area with vendors you’ll need to get a ticket.

11. Cultural Crawl


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 17th, 2PM-10PM

This is one of the most original bar crawl’s you’ll ever attend. Merging art and drinks, the Cultural Crawl incorporates street art and multiple bars in Center City. Attendees will get souvenir cups, maps, and great drink specials at each location.

12. 80’s Bar Crawl


Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, June 17th, 2PM-10PM

Staring at $10, this 80’s theme bar crawl will span various downtown locations. Get your first welcome drink at J.J. Bootleggers and continue along the crawl. There will be 80’s music blasting at each bar and many specialty menus.

13. Art for the Cash Poor


Where: 1400 N. American St.
When: Saturday, June 17-Sunday, June 18th

InLiquid is sponsoring this annual summer art sale. The love of being an art collector should not be reflective of your wallet. This Saturday there will be droves of great artistic pieces on sale. Artists will also be on site first hand to discuss their work.

14. 2017 Liberty Pole Championships


Where: Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine St.
When: Saturday, June 17th-Sunday, June 18th

The Painted Bride Art Center will be hosting the 2017 Liberty Pole Championship this Saturday. This national competition will have both amateur and professional dancers performing.

15. Beer Camp on Tour


Where: Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
When: Saturday, June 17th, 1PM-5PM

This is America’s largest craft beer festival will be invading Penn’s Landing this Saturday. There will be hundreds of craft beers, food trucks all around, live music, games, and more. General admission is $55.

16. 2017 West Chester Craft Beer Festival


Where: 501 E. Miner St. West Chester, PA
When: Saturday, June 17th, 1PM-5PM

If you’re willing to venture outside the city, West Chester will be hosting its 1st annual beer festival this Saturday. The masses will come out to taste the droves of breweries invited to the event. There will be food vendors and more at this festival.

17. Florida Georgia Line


Where: BB&T Pavilion, 1 Harbour Blvd. Camden, NJ
When: Saturday, June 17th, 7PM

Country duo Florida Georgia Line will be performing at the BB&T Pavilion this Saturday night. The powerhouse group released an album last year titled Dig Your Roots. They have been one of the most successful contemporary acts since they came out and will have the crowd on their feet all night long.

18. 29th Annual Pride Day Parade and Festival


Where: Parade begins at 13th and Locust
When: Sunday, June 17, 11:30AM

The 29th Annual Pride Day Parade and Festival is this weekend. The LGBT event will go from 13th and Locust, vine through Center City, and end at the festival location. At 1:00pm the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing will host the festival that will have exciting events, vendors, live music, and more.

19. Lizzo


Where: The Foundry at The Fillmore, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Sunday, June 18th, 8PM

Minnesota R&B and pop act Lizzo has a powerful sound and unique stage presence. She will be bringing her show to the Northern Liberties hotspot The Foundry. In 2016 she released the EP Coconut Oil. Come see this up-and-coming act on the alternative soul scene.

20. Radio 104.5 Block Party


Where: Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, 601 N. Columbus Blvd.
When: Sunday, June 18th, 2PM

Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party Series will be this weekend. This free musical event will take place at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing. The lineup will include The Revivalists, Miss, July Talk, Irontom, and Vital Stats.

21. U2


Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1020 Pattison Ave.
When: Sunday, June 18th, 7PM

Irish Rock legendary group U2 will be igniting Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday night. Come see Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. as they sing the massive hits from their incredible discography.

22. Father’s Day Philly


Where: Various locations
When: Sunday, June 18th

This Sunday is one of the most cherished days of the year. The Academy of Natural Sciences is free for entry for dads and the Museum of American Revolution will be having special events. The Spirit of Philadelphia will be having a cruise, Kensington Quarters will be having a BBQ and Revolutions at Penn Treaty will be having a special. Del Frisco’s will also be having a Father’s Day menu.
