The Eagles Have Signed Their Replacement for Caleb Sturgis

The Philadelphia Eagles have found a kicker to replace Caleb Sturgis, signing Jake Elliott off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, according to a report by Ian Rapoport.

Elliott was drafted in the fifth round out of Memphis, breaking Stephen Gostowski’s field-goal record while at the school. His career long with the Tigers was 56 yards. Elliott struggled in Bengals Training Camp, however, and Randy Bullock won the kicking job.

Sturgis, meanwhile, suffered a hip flexor injury on the opening kickoff. Sturgis continued to play through the injury, although the Eagles did go for a two-point conversion late to prevent Sturgis from having to kick. Sturgis was placed on IR with a plan to bring him back later in the season.
