What We Learned from Today’s iPhone 8, iPhone X Unveiling

Apple hosted one of their quarterly events today to introduce the latest updates, devices, and features that will hit stores in the coming weeks. Apple CEO Tim Cook presented Apple TV 4K, new Apple Watch bands and tweaks, iOS 11, the new iPhone, charging mat, and more.

Apple TV

Apple TV has now entered the 4K HR era. The improved Apple TV 4K allows you to watch shows, films, and more in 4K HR quality. The package includes live sports and automatic upgrades of previously purchased films to 4K HD resolution in your iTunes library.  The new Apple TV starts at $149 for 32 GB. For Apple TV 4K you’ll pay $179 for 23Gb and $199 for 64GB.

Apple Watch 

Apple Watch Series 3 was also introduced. The new series watch will have the same cellular phone number as your iPhone.  You’ll be able to stream up to 40 million songs directly to the watch. The new Apple Watch is also swim proof, has new activity coaching tips and rings, has Siri, and offers several new bands. The new eSim (electronic sim) product really brides the gap when you’re away from your phone.

iPhone 8


The iPhone 8 will be available in three different shades: Rose Gold, Grey, and Silver. The phone is water and dust resistant. You can enjoy 5.5 inch and 4.7 inch visual displays. The iPhone 8’s back camera will have 12MP dual cameras will all-new sensors and optical image stabilization. The camera really reinforces the focus on AR in tech. The phone’s cameras are calibrated for augmented reality and has accurate motion tracking. More camera and photo features include pictures in 4K 60fps & 1080p 240fsp video. The company claims the phone will have the most durable glass on any smartphone. A big enhancement is wireless charging. Pricing for an iPhone 8 starts at $699 and $799 for an iPhone 8 Plus.

iPhone X

Apple also introduced iPhone X today. The company’s 10 year anniversary phone. The phone does away with the home button, has Face ID, is also water and dust resistant, and has many new features including animojis. iPhone X will be available for pre-order on October 27th and available in stores on November 3rd. The pricing is a whopping $1,000 and is available in 6GB or 256 GB.

Both phones will have the full iOS 11 upgrade.
