David Akers Is Getting Inducted into the Eagles’ Hall of Fame Tonight

The Philadelphia Eagles will induct kicker David Akers into their Hall of Fame on Monday night during their showdown against the Washington Redskins.

Akers, considered the greatest kicker in the history of the franchise, spent 12 season in Philadelphia and is the team’s all-time leader in regular-season (188) and postseason games played (19). He went to the Pro Bowl five times, the most of any placekicker in Eagles’ history. Akers was part of nine playoff appearances, six division titles and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIX.

I’ll always remember Akers as someone who wasn’t afraid to mix it up on special teams. Check out this tackle during the 2001 NFC Championship Game against the St. Louis Rams.

A well-deserved Hall-of-Fame inductee, congratulations David!
