What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: November 10-12

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend:

1. Science Museum Day

Where: The Franklin Institute, 222 N. 20th St.
When: Friday, November 10th, 9:AM-5PM

This Friday The Franklin Institute will be hosting the International Science Center and Science Museum Day. The event will display the continual synergy between technology and the inventions of the future. There will be workshops, 3-D printing discussions, synthetic biology, and building and design features with K’nex and Keva Planks.

2. Veterans Day Weekend Museum Events

Where: Museum of the American Revolution, 101 S. 3rd St and National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street
When: Friday, November 10th-Sunday, November 12th

The National Constitution Center and the Museum of American Revolution will be having special Veterans Days events throughout the entire weekend. There will be flag raising ceremonies, free admissions to the museum, USO concerts, wreath laying ceremonies, Veteran discussions and more.

3. Annie

Where: Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Sunday, January 7th

When the temperature drops and the holidays start chiming through, there’s a few Christmas classics that come to mind. Annie is one of the seasonal theatrical gems that gets the whole family ready for the holidays. The Walnut Street Theatre will be doing a run of the great production all the way through the beginning of 2018.

4. Asian American Film Festival

Where: Various locations
When: Runs through Sunday, November 19th

The Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival kicks off this week. The inclusive and celebratory film festival has been a big-ticket in the city since its creation in 2008. The festival will include movie screenings, discussions, awards, and more. Don’t miss you’re chance to see some phenomenal works displaying the Asian experience on the big screen.

5. Electrical Spectacular

Where: Franklin Square, 200 N. 6th St.
When: Runs through Sunday, December 31st

Each year Franklin Square gets transformed into a magical winter wonderland. The Franklin Square holiday festival includes this illuminating light show. Over 50,000 lights shimmer and glow to the soundtrack of your favorite holiday tunes. There are two alternating shows beginning every 30 minutes each day for free.

6. Dilworth Park Wintergarden

Where: Dilworth Park, 1 S. 15th St.
When: Runs through February 2018

Center City Parks District opens the Dilworrth Park Wintergarden, Rothman Institute Ice Rink, and Rothman Cabin this week. The rink is one of the memorable structures that perches next to City Hall during the wintry months. After skating with your friends and family be sure to stop by the Rothman Cabin for holiday themed brews, small bites, and warm beverages. The opening festivities kick off this Friday at 12PM.

7. Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show

Where: Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch St.
When: Friday, November 10th-Sunday, November 13th

The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show will be taking place all weekend. Up to 195 pieces of art from the other side of the globe will be on display at this event. After thousands of applicants, 25 Korean artists were chosen to bring their work to Philadelphia at this amazing show. Crafts will be up for sale and at this show.

8. Villanova vs. Columbia

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, November 10th, 8:30PM

The Villanova Wildcats will begin their regular season this Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The powerhouse program will be taking on the Columbia Lions. Come see Jalen Brunson and company try to kick-start their season in the right direction for a great evening matchup.

9. Tegan and Sara

Where: Tower Theatre, S. 69th Street and Ludlow St.
When: Friday, November 10th, 8PM

Alternative sister duo Tegan and Sara will bringing their The Con X: Tour to the Tower Theatre this Friday night. The pair recently released the celebratory collaboration album The Con: X. The production commemorates the critically acclaimed album The Con, ten-year anniversary. Come see the act’s new musical spin on some of their best hits.

10. Rocky Run

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Saturday, November 11th, 8PM

This Saturday morning the ultimate Philadelphia fitness challenge will be bringing the masses to the front the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Rocky Balboa Run includes a 5K run throughout the city. There are multiple contests during the run including best Rocky themed singular and group costumes.

11. 2017 Black Expo America

Where: Four Points Sheraton, 1201 Race St.
When: Saturday, November 10th, 10AM

The 2017 Black Expo America will take place at the Four Points Sheraton this Saturday. The massive conference increases the effort to simulate growth and promote cultural businesses in the area. The day long event will have vendors from fashion, beauty, crafts, jewelry, collectibles, music, literature, and more.

12. Philly Fall Crawl

Where: Various Center City Bars
When: Saturday, November 11th, 12PM-8PM

The first of many seasonal themed bar crawls begins this Saturday afternoon. The Philly Fall Crawl ticket includes bar entry, access to food and drink specials, a commemorative t-shirt, an event map, and more. Up to ten locations will be participating including Tavern On Broad and Brü.

13. Philadelphia Wing Festival

Where: 2300 Arena, 2300 S. Swanson St.
When: Saturday, November 11th, 12PM-6PM

The Wing Bowl isn’t the only chicken celebratory festival in the area each year. The 2300 Arena will be swarming with chicken wing lovers this Saturday afternoon. Over twenty of the area’s best bars, restaurants,  and food trucks will be serving up their best wing recipes. There will be over 60 wing styles to choose from.

14. West Chester Craft Beer & Restaurant Stroll

Where: Various locations
When: Saturday, November 11th, 12PM-6PM

The West Chester Craft Beer and Restaurant Stroll will have more than ten restaurants and bars participating in the food and drink festivities this weekend. Take your custom crawl mug to any of the locations for drink specials and more. Crawlers will also get a free Jersey Mike’s sub during their afternoon.

15. Unity Cup Championship

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1 Lincoln Financial Field Way
When: Saturday, November 11th, 6PM

The 2017 Philadelphia International Unity Cup Championship match will be filling Lincoln Financial Field’s stadium this Saturday night. Teams Liberia and Sierra Leone will compete for the ultimate championship trophy. There will also be a youth championship game earlier in the day, a parade of nations, and a third place matchup.

16. Bob Dylan

Where: Tower Theatre, S. 69th St. and Ludlow St.
When: Saturday, November 11th & Sunday, November 12th

The second time the Tower Theatre pops up on this list is for legendary reasons. Singer-Songwriter, musician, painter, and poet Bob Dylan will be performing at the Upper Darby entertainment venue this Saturday night. The music titan released a new album this year titled Triplicate. Come hear tracks from his newest release and past hits from the award-winning artist.

17. Flyers vs. Wild

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, November 11th, 7PM

The Philadelphia Flyers are in the midst of a four game home stretch. The semi 500. team will be taking on the Minnesota Wild this Saturday night. The two teams will face off in Minnesota next week as well. Come out and support the home team and get revved up by all the thunderous action.

18. Taste of Thanksgiving

Where: Please Touch Museum, 4231 Avenue of the Republic.
When: Sunday, November 12th, 11AM

Whole Foods will be partnering with the Please Touch Museum this Sunday morning for Taste of Thanksgiving. There will be Thanksgiving meal samples provided by the market for both kids and adults. There will also be a “What Are You Thankful For” chalkboard area and a Toddler Turkey Trot.
