MilkBoy Philadelphia introduces open mic competition for recording contract

Philadelphia is bursting with talent. For all you musicians out there and killer vocalists looking to make your mark on the world, MilkBoy has a competition for you. Starting on Monday, March 5th the popular bar, restaurant, and concert venue will be hosting its introductory Home Grown Open Mic Competition. The event runs from 7PM-11PM each week. Those interested in performing can sign up at MilkBoy South Street on the day of the competition. Industry professionals will judge the competition series.

Finalists will be chosen from the concerts and will be put on full display at MilkBoy Chesntut’s  upstairs stage for the Home Grown Open Mic Showcase. There will be a cash prizes and more at this Tuesday, April 10th event. The winners from that competition will move on to the MilkBoy’s Winners Showcase. Up for grabs that night will be recording contract with MilkBoy studios, a CD package from Pint Publishing sponsored by Mirror Image, and a full feature in That Music Mag.

MilkBoy General Manager Cory Elmi stated; “Ultimately MilkBoy is all about entertainment, from recording at the studio to hosting local musicians at both venue locations with elevated bar food and drink options for Philadelphians to enjoy. Home Grown Open Mic is unique from our other events, because it combines all facets of the MilkBoy brand to showcase it as an entertainment entity.”

For those looking to take in all of this musical glory, be sure to stop by each Monday for $4 Victory Brewing Home Grown New American Lagers. There’s plenty of fantastic pub grub to pair the brews with from their extensive and savory menu. MilkBoy South Street also has stellar events each week. Trivia Tuesdays kicks off at 7:30PM, Laughs on Philly is featured each Wednesday at 7:30PM, and Karaoke Thursdays take over the venue from 9PM-2AM. There are also live music performances each weekend.

Come stop by this lively musical competition for your chance to record in the studios where hitmakers like Justin Timberlake, Meek Mill, and the Roots have all put their stamp on.
