The selection of Dallas Goedert in the second round didn’t necessarily fill a need, but it might arguably give the Philadelphia Eagles the best tight end duo in the NFL.
Philly, which initially traded back out of the first round to pick No. 52 overall after acquiring a 2019 second-rounder from the Baltimore Ravens, sent a fifth to the Indianapolis Colts to move up three spots in the second to take the South Dakota State tight end. They leapt the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys, who saw tight end Jason Witten retire earlier in the day.
