This Week in Cocktails: Cinco de Mayo

This Saturday, May 5th is the holiday Cinco de Mayo. Here’s a list of the best attractions, crawls, and celebrations in the city this weekend.

El Rey Cinco de Mayo Block Party: Come to El Rey this Saturday for their Cinco de Mayo Block Party. Beginning at 12 p.m. this party will have tons of games and activities, margarita specials, mariachi performances, and savory street food. Gun$ Garcia will be holding a concert at the restaurant that night.

Café Ynez: Point Breeze Mexican eatery Café Ynez serves up some savory authentic cuisine each day. This Saturday stop by this trendy BYOB for flavorful margaritas and your choice of $13 dishes. Executive Chef JC Piña is serving up classic Cochinita Pipí Tacos (pork shoulder marinated and cooked for 12 hours, served with pickled red onions, salsa verde, and two soft corn tortillas) and Cóctel Campechano (diced shrimp and octopus with cilantro, jalapeño, and avocado) served with tortilla chips.

Distrito: Distrito will feature two for $5 tacos, $4 select beers, $5 Feliz margaritas, $8 Patron margaritas, and plenty other specials. There will also be live music from 3p.m.-1a.m.

Xochitl: Xochitl will be having $5-$8 bar bites and appetizers, $6 margaritas, $3 draft beer, $3 Tecates, and a tequila basket raffle. Stop by the authentic eatery starting at 1 p.m.

March of the Sombreros: If you’re looking for a killer crawl that spans Center City, South Street, Old City, and Manayunk then March of the Sombreros is for you. Over 40 locations are participating and there will be no covers all night. Tickets start at just $10 and there are VIP packages available for drink and food deals.

Cinco de Philly: Cinco de Philly will feature the best in Modelo beer and Coronas all night long in Center City, Midtown Village, Old City, Rittenhouse, University City, and South Street. There will be face painting, free merchandise,  a mariachi band, and a  sexy senorita contest.

Cinco de RETOX Day Party:This Saturday come out to Gunners Run in Northern Liberites for a blowout day party. There will be $3 You-Call-It drinks, $7 Don Julio Margaritas, DJ tandem group Menace Cartel will provide the music, and more. The party is from 3 p.m-8 p.m. and there’s a complimentary cover with RSVP before 4:30 p.m.

Cinco de Mayo Crawl Philly: This Cinco de Mayo crawl will offer free covers at the 30 participating locations, a free shirt for the first 200 who check in, free beads and swag from vendors, live music, and more.

Cinco De Mayo Fiesta & Taco Eating Contest: North Bowl will be hosting a fiesta and taco eating contest this Saturday, May 5th. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. There will be pinatas with adult grabs inside, food and drink specials, live music by Mariachi Flores, and more. 

Cinco de Mayo Cruise and Silent Party: Silent Philly will be hitting the high seas this Saturday night with its Silent Cinco de Mayo Cruise. The event will feature three music choices blasting through your colorful headphones. Red (Latin), Green (Top 40 and EDM), and Blue (Hip Hop) will help you dance the night away at this party.

XFNITY Live!: XFINITY Live! will be having $3 Sol bottles and $5 margaritas this Saturday night starting at 9 p.m. There will also be a cash pinata!

Tequila Noche: This Saturday night at Haute Lounge guests will get free entry with RSVP from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. There will be $3 tacos, $3 Coronas, $7 margaritas and sangria, and half off top-shelf tequila.

Taste of the Brewvitational: Reading Terminal Market will be featuring 30 local brewers at this special Happy Hour event. The tasting will run from 7-10p.m. on Wednesday, May 2nd. There will be beer samples and a contest to vote for the Flagship Beer int the city.

Parks On Tap: Parks on Tap will be at Lovett Park through Sunday, May 6th. Come out to this traveling beer garden and food truck extravaganza for scenic views and great brews. Today there will be a special Happy Hour from 5-7p.m. 50% of the proceeds will go to support Lovett Park. Thursday there will be free yoga from 6-7.pm. Attendees who donate will get a voucher for a free drink.

Philadelphia Magazine’s Wine Festival: On Thursday, May 3rd Lincoln Financial Field will be hosting Philadelphia Magazine’s Wine Festival. From 5-9p.m. you’ll have access to over 500 reds, whites & bubbly from around over the globe. Over 20 of Philadelphia’s top restaurants will also be serving up fantastic dishes at the soiree.

Siempre Salsa Philly: Come to open-air Schmidt’s Commons this Friday night for Siempre Salsa Philly. This free event will have salsa lessons at NoLibs, live music by Elvis Bonilla y su Orquesta, and the food and drinks available for purchase.

The Big 80’s Party: This Friday night Voltage Lounge will be hosting The Big 80’s Party. Stop by between the hours of 10p.m.-2a.m. to hear DJs Dave Paul and Marco play the best hits from that unique decade.

Suits & Sazeracs: On Monday, May 7th Henry A. Davidson and Hotel Palomar will be hosting Suits & Sazeracs. From 6p.m.-10p.m. , ten of Philly’s best bartenders will be competing to put their spin on the classic Sazerac using Bluebird Distilling’s Rye Whiskey.  There will be live music, food provided by Square 1682, and proceeds from the event will go to the local nonprofit, Career Wardrobe

The Philadelphia All Star Craft Beer, Wine, and Cocktail Festival

Where: Citizens Bank Park, 1 Citizens Bank Way

When: Saturday, May 19th, 3PM-7PM

In two weeks, Citizens Bank Park will be packed with over 100 craft beer,  wineries, breweries, and other vendors. Guests will get free parking, a voucher for two tickets to a Phillies game, and be able to get their picture taken in the Phillies dugout.  Don’t miss your opportunity to walk the bases and warning track. The Phillies new whiffle ballpark will be open for plenty of games. There will be four DJ’s and live music acts to soundtrack the party. The Phillies vs. Cardinals will also be airing LIVE on the giant 1,500 screen at the park. Come out for the games, the drinks, food, amazing atmosphere, and a true all-star experience. General admission tickets are $50, designated driver tickets are $20, and ultra VIP tickets are $70.
