The Spotlight of the Week: National Pie Day

01.23.19 Natl Pie Day 1.jpg

Wednesday, January 23rd is National Pie Day. Here are some great places to stop by to celebrate the delicious holiday.

CO-OP: CO-OPThe Study hotel’s bustling restaurant and lounge located on the corner of 33rd and Chestnut Sts., has a rotating selection of freshly baked pies available year-round. Apple and pecan lovers are in luck, as CO-OP will be serving up $8 slices of each tomorrow in celebration of National Pie Day. Pair a slice (or two) with one of CO-OP’s many coffee-based beverages for the perfect post-dinner pick-me-up.

Ocean Prime: Ocean Prime, while known for its extensive selection of prime seafood and steak offerings, has a delicious dessert menu, with favorites such as the Ten Layer Carrot Cake, Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Cake with hand spun ice cream. However, the real showstopper is the Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie ($12), served with a rich and creamy peanut butter mousse center, and topped with a bittersweet chocolate ganache. This decadent dessert is available tomorrow for National Pie Day — but, don’t worry, it’s an Ocean Prime staple and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Urban Farmer: Urban Farmer, Philly’s modern “chic” American steakhouse, is celebrating National Pie Day with, not one, but two pies — a sweet AND a savory. Executive Chef Seth Pettit is cooking up an Urban Farmer Meat Pie ($14), boasting braised wagyu, roasted root vegetable, Herve mascarpone and Saba for those who prefer a savory option. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy a Shoofly Pie($10), served with streusel, Chantilly, and mocha ice cream. The meat pie will be available during lunch, while the Shoofly Pie will be available during lunch and dinner.

Center City Restaurant Week Picks: Amis Trattoria, The Dandelion, Lolita

The Dandelion: The Dandelion has several tasty Center City Restaurant Week options available for you. There’s a great Seared Salmon dish with stewed tomato and chickpea curry, roasted cauliflower.  Confit Chicken Thigh and Lamb Shepherd’s Pie are also tremendous entree options.

Lolita: 13th Street contemporary Mexican restaurant Lolita has several festive options for CCRW. For your first course, you can choose between Crispy fish tacos, a Mexican chopped salad, Pork carnitas tacos, and Crispy Cholula fried chicken tacos. Roasted winter squash enchiladas, Seared cauliflower steak, Carne asada a la lolita, and more highlight the entrees
