1. Black History Month Events this Weekend

With the last few days of Black History Month winding down, the African American Museum and other locations in Philadelphia have several celebrations planned throughout the weekend.  There will be a jazz concert dedicated to Motown legends Stevie Wonder and SmokiRobinsonon this Friday. This Sunday there will be a  Bound to the Fire: The Story of How Enslaved Cooks Fueled What We Eat Today book signing with author Kelley Fanto Deetz at Cliveden. Smith Playground will also be hosting a 120 Years of Integrated Play event on Saturday.

2. Closing Soon: Winter events at Dilworth Park

When: Runs through Sunday, February 24

The Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink, Rothman Orthopaedics Cabin, and Wintergarden have been running several events through the season for months. This Sunday, those fun and family-friendly activities will come to a halt. Don’t miss your chance to stop by this Center City gem for one last time.

3. Closing Soon: Swing @ the Kimmel at the Kimmel Center

Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, February 24th

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts  Swing @ the Kimmel, an interactive and free virtual reality swing installation, will be ending this Sunday. This cutting-edge innovation will immerse your family in the wonders of your favorite pastimes. Stop by the famed event center before its too late.

4. Cinderella at the Academy of Music

Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Friday, February 22nd-Sunday, February 24th

Broadway Philadelphia brings Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella to the city this weekend. This smash hit and memorable classic features “In My Own Little Corner”,  “Impossible/ It’s Possible”, “Ten Minutes Ago”, and others.

5. #TrackTakeover at Walnut-Locust Station

Where: Walnut-Locust Station, 200 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 10th

Following the 2018 Trashcan Takeover, the subway station at Walnut and Locust is getting its own artistic facelift.  The temporary underground art gallery will replace all 110 advertising spaces with artwork from 30 Philadelphia artists! Stop by for saw jaw-dropping and inspiring work.

6. Orchid Extravaganza

When: Through Sunday, March 24th

Longwood Gardens will be overflowing with beautiful orchids through the end of next month. Come take a stroll the serenity of some of the most beautiful flowers that nature has to offer. There will be show-stopping arrangements at this amazing floral production.

7. Friday Nights at the Art Museum

When: Friday, February 22nd, 5PM-8:45PM

The Philadelphia Museum of Art holds a special happy hour series each Friday. The gathering uniquely blends arts and music in this special clash of culture. Each week there’s small bites, beverages, cocktails, special gallery access, and live music. This week there will be crafts, meditation, and a modern dance performance by the Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers.

8. James Blake

JAMES BLAKE

Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Friday, February 22nd, 8:30PM

British singer James Blake will be performing at the Fillmore Philadelphia this Friday night. Supporting his 2019 release, Assume Form, he’ll be bringing his signature vocals to the Philly faithful. Don’t miss out on seeing this great vocalist and opening act  Khushi.

9. Seth Meyers

Where: Keswick Theatre, 291 N. Keswick Ave. Glenside, PA
When: Friday, February 22nd, 7PM & 10PM

Former Saturday Night Live writer and performer,  actor, and host of Late Night with Seth Meyers will be bringing his stand-up act to the region this Friday night. Laughs will be pouring out of Keswick Theatre when this famed personality takes the stage.

10. Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display

When: Exhibit opens Saturday, February 23rd

Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display will be highlighting the halls of Penn Museum beginning this Saturday. The will feature, “more than 200 fascinating objects, many of which have never been on view before, are included throughout the three-part, 6,000-square-foot exhibition”.

11. Kennett Winterfest

The Kennett Winterfest is a wonderful and yearly winter festival showcasing tremendous regional breweries. Stop by this Saturday for samples from  Great Lakes Brewing, Tired Hands, Yards, and more. The drinks will be flowing at this amazing regional and annual event.

12. Party at the Market

This Saturday, one of the country’s oldest and most storied markets will be hosting their Party at the Market. There will be six live bands, four open bars, food from over 30 market vendors, dancing, and more. This will be a sensational night of food and entertainment.

13. Philly Bierfest

This Saturday the 2019 Philly Bierfest will be the place to be this Saturday afternoon. There will be amazing incredible brews, games, quizzo, taste-offs, and more. This amazing event will have live music, will feature ladies from Philly’s Roller Derby squad, and so much more.

14. Mummers Mardi Gras Festival

Philadelphia Mummers Mardi Gras Festival

Where: 2300 Arena, 2300 S. Swanson St.
When: Saturday, February 23rd, 1PM-5PM

The 2019 Mummers Mardi Gras Festival marches into the city this Saturday. There will be a Mummers string bands will perform live, food trucks, booze, and a photo booth. The 2300 Arena will be the place to be for entertainment and the best Mardi Gras themed festivities this weekend.

15. Trailblazers vs. 76ers

We already know the Philadelphia 76ers will be without big man Joel Embiid in this matchup. The Portland Trailblazers will be coming to the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday afternoon for the teams second post-All-Star game matchup this week. Come out and cheer on The Process as they 76ers tried to ascend up the Eastern Conference rankings.

16. Bouts on Broad at The Met Philadelphia

The newly renovated The Met Philadelphia will be hosting the first event of this kind in its famed hall this Saturday night. Bouts on Broad will provide the knockout to your weekend with thunderous and lively boxing all night long.

17. 2019 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series

18. Things Fall Apart: 20 Year Celebration 

THINGS FALL APART : 20 Year Celebration of The Roots Iconic Album

World Cafe Live will be celebrating the 20 year anniversary of The Roots musical triumph Things Fall Apart.  The lineup for this sizzling night of music includes Ill Doots, members of Hardwork Movement, Chill Moody, Zeek Burse, and other Philly artists.

19. From Today, Painting is Dead at the Barnes Foundation

Where: Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Runs from Sunday, February 24th-Sunday, May 12th

From Today, Painting Is Dead: Early Photography in Britain and France will be opening at the Barnes Foundation this Sunday and will be on display through May. The exhibit captures the early days of photography as it swept through the regions of the globe. Come see these artistic pieces exploring the depths of burgeoning photography.

20. Chestnut Hill Restaurant Week 

Where: Various locations
When: Sunday, February 24th-Friday, March 1st

This Sunday kicks off Chestnut Hill Resturant Week. The next week will feature three-course prix fixe meals in the beautiful area of the city. Several participating restaurants will be buzzing with great deals and booming crowds. This sprawling culinary delights will be a true gem of the season.

21. 6th Annual Oscars Party & Screening at Philadelphia Film Center

Where: Philadelphia Film Center, 1412 Chestnut St.
When: Sunday, February 24th, 7PM (VIP gala starts at 5:30PM)

The Academy Awards are this Sunday. For the filmed enthusiasts in the city, going out to watch the famed production is always fun. The Philadelphia Film Society will be hosting a live screening of the Academy Awards. There will be live entertainment, food, cocktails, and more.

22. Michael Bublé

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Sunday, February 24th, 8PM

Jazz vocalist and swing singer Michael Bublé will be playing at the Wells Fargo Center this Sunday night.  Bublé released his 10th studio album titled Love last year. Seeing this talented singer will be a great way to close out your weekend.
