1. Closing Soon: Gershman Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival

The 39th Annual Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival ends this Sunday. The cultural film celebration has been holding special screenings and panel discussions since the beginning of the month. 2. Closing Soon: Obsolescence

Obsolescence will end its run at the Paradigm + Gallery this Saturday. The amazing exhibit features the work of Swedish artist, Ulla-Stina Wikander. Wikander has created stunning pieces of embroidered vintage household items. Don’t miss your chance to see this creative display.

3. Philadelphia Marathon Weekend

The Philadelphia Marathon will be bringing some fun and amazing events to the city this weekend. The festivities begin this Thursday when Mural Arts will be unveiling their latest street mural, dedicated to the longrunning marathon. This Friday, Mayor Jim Kenney will be holding a press conference at opening the opening of the Health and Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Each year, Over 30,000 runners gear up for The Philadelphia Marathon. There will be a full marathon, half marathon, Rothman 8K race, Dunkin’ Munchkin Kids Run, and more. Come out to participate or watch this amazing display of endurance, will, and athleticism.

4. Longwood Gardens Celebrates the Shape of Christmas

Where: Longwood Gardens | 1001 Longwood Rd | Kennett Square, PA

When: Runs through Sunday, January 5

Longwood Gardens always has a fantastic Christmas display. The conservatory will be trimmed and laced with several Christmas lights and fixtures. The colorful fountains will also be dancing to your favorite holiday classics each day at this indoor and outdoor experience. The beautiful setting will be filled with strolling carol singers, ornaments everywhere, and a half-million lights glowing throughout the park.

5. LumiNature at the Philadelphia Zoo 

Where: Philadelphia Zoo | 3400 W Girard Ave

When: Runs through Sunday, January 5

The Philadelphia Zoo opened LumiNature this week. Bring your entire out to bask in “12 different illuminated experiences. You’ll be amazed by the winter wonderland light show, vibrant wild animals,  and other themed displays.

8. Mean Girls at the Academy of Music

Regina George once went to see a musical at the Academy of Music so now you have to. One of the most memorable films of the previous decade has been turned into a hit Broadway show. 9. Come Together Dance Festival

Where: Suzanne Roberts Theatre | 480 S. Broad St

The Come Together Dance Festival will be taking over the Suzzane Roberts Dance Theatre this weekend. This yearly gathering of dozens of dance companies in the city features over 100 dancers. The genres of tap, jazz, modern, ballet, hip hop, and several others will be on display at this rhythmic showcase.

10. The Barber of Seville

Where: The Kimmel Center | 300 S. Broad St

Conductor Christian Capocaccia and director Chas Rader-Shieber bring  Gioachino Rossini’s work to life like never before. The Opera buffa tells the story of beautiful Rosina love for a nobleman in disguise. The talented work of Rosini and Sterbini is truly a can’t miss.

11. The Philadelphia Orchestra Performs The Firebird

Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center will be filled by the wonderful works of Auerbach, Lieberson, and Stravinsky (full The Firebird ballet). The incredible program will be conducted by Principal Guest Conductor Stéphane Denève and will feature Mezzo-Soprano Kelley O’Connor. This musical tale of a prince, an evil king, and, a magical firebird is will not disappoint. Don’t miss your chance to see these talented musicians perform at this renowned venue.

12. Friday Night at the Art Museum

Come to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for an immersive night of music, art, and fun. There will be cocktails and small bites at this week’s installment of the museum’s Friday Nights series. 13. City Winery Weekend

After its dazzling debut, City Winery Philadelphia has continued to fill its sound stages will tremendous performers. This weekend is no exception. This Friday night, Corey Smith will be on the mainstage. On Saturday you can hear singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw. On that same night, Cimorelli will be performing in front of a sold-out crowd in The Loft. Presented by WXPN, Dessa, will be performing on Sunday night.

14. An Evening with Sutton Foster

Two-time Tony-winning actress, singer, and dancer, Sutton Foster will be at the Merriam Theater this Friday night. The star of the TV Land series “Younger” has performed in 11 Broadway shows. Stop by this popular theater for your weekend to be highlighted by this talent and an entertainer.

15. Jim Norton

Comedian and actor Jim Norton will be on the Helium Comedy club for four amazing nights this week.  Co-host of the SiriusXM Satellite Radio broadcast, “The Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show”, Norton is becoming a household name in comedy. 16. Marlon Wayans

17. Spurs vs. 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers will put their perfect home record to the test twice this weekend. Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, and the crew will be taking on the San Antonio Spurs this Friday night. Brett Brown’s old team brings their 5-win season into the WFC as the look for their sixth victory.

19. Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar

20. The Life Story of Mahalia Jackson

The Life Story of Mahalia Jackson

When: Saturday, November 23 2 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.

The Life Story of Mahalia Jackson will be front-and-center on The Met Philadelphia’s stage for two amazing shows this Saturday. Starring fellow R&B and gospel singer Ann Nesby in the titular role, this powerful production follows this acclaimed vocalist’s rise to fame.  Lead by Tony Award-winning writer, director, producer, and playwright Nolbert Brown Jr, this musical features some of the best renditions of Jackson’s work.

21. The Gathering: Black Women + The Photograph

The African American Museum in Philadelphia will be hosting The Gathering: Black Women + The Photograph this Saturday afternoon. The half-day conference dives into the “work and experiences of Black women and non-binary photographers”.  There will be panels,  a keynote speech by artist and collector Danny Simmons, and more.

22. The Clay Studio Premiere Weekend

The Clay Studio will be premiering three amazing and free exhibits this weekend. Stephanie Kantor: Rosewater features intriguing sculptures by this Clay Studio Resident Artist. The works are reflective of Kantor’s passion for ancient stories, mythology, and the enthralling of the ocean. Get into the holiday season at Ornaments in the Studio. Bring your family out to shop in the studio’s gallery. You’ll find fabulous handmade and one-of-a-kind ornaments, giftable ceramic art, and more. At Katherine Hackl: Natural Silhouettes art lovers will be transfixed by this stunning and unique pottery collection. The exhibit features “hand-thrown functional stoneware and porcelain forms decorated with either hand-carved graffito or a new etched porcelain process”. The distinct pieces are adorned with botanical images, patterns, and illustrations.

23. Flames vs. Flyers

The Philadelphia Flyers will be hitting the ice at the Wells Fargo Center this Saturday afternoon to take on the Calgary Flames. The Flames and the Flyers are both in 5th place in their respective divisions. The home team will need all the cheers and screams they can get for this cross-conference battle.

24. Chestnut Hill Circle of Trees

When: Saturday, November 23 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The Woodmere Art Museum will be hosting the Chestnut Hill Circle of Trees this Saturday evening. Come celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with a tree lighting, Santa, live music, cookies, and more. This weekend will also mark the opening of Merry and Bright II: The Christmas Collection of Jeanette TurnbullJeanette Turnbull has “decked the halls” at Woodmere with a creative installation of vintage and contemporary decorations that will captivate visitors of all ages. In addition, children’s toys, holiday trimmings, an extraordinary dollhouse replica of a Germantown home, and a sculpture of Belsnickel, a Christmas figure from German folklore—on loan from the Germantown Historical Society—will bring 19th-century holiday traditions to life.

25. Heat vs. 76ers

The return of Jimmy Butler is this Saturday night. The Wells Fargo Center will be rocking when one of the NBA’s hottest teams, the Heat, comes to the Wells Fargo Center this weekend. This clash of Eastern Conference hopefuls will have the court filled with some of the best talents in the game.

26. San Fermin
