1. Closing Soon: Philadelphia Flower Show

The 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show will be coming to a close this Sunday. This will be your last chance to see these blossoming and flowing displays. This year’s theme: Riveria Holiday, will captivate and mystify you like never before.

2. Closing Soon: BlueCross RiverRink Winterfest

Where: Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest | 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd
When: Runs through Sunday, March 8

The end has sorrowfully come. The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will be closing its doors this weekend. In its 26th year, the wintry themed entertainment center has a cabin selling great food and beverages, has a lodge with arcade games, and a massive rink that’s been jumping daily. Come say goodbye to the seasonal structure before it’s too late.

3. Closing Soon: East Passyunk Restuarant Week

East Passyunk Restaurant Avenue Week will be serving up sizzling dishes through Friday. These deals will feature three-course prix fixe lunch and/or dinner for $15, $25 or $35. More than twenty restaurants in the area will be buzzing with great deals and a booming crowd.

4. Women’s History Month

When: Runs through Tuesday, March 31

Women’s History Month Features several events, celebrations, discussions, entertainment, and panels discussing several nuanced topics orbiting women on a daily basis. The #SisterlyLove Project is a tremendous new art exhibit featuring 20 change-making women from Philadelphia. This street art project includes some amazing work. There will be a headshot pop-up for International Women’s Day this Friday. Betsy Ross House will be hosting special events each Saturday and Sunday in March.

5. La Bayadère at the Academy of Music

Where: Academy of Music|  240 S. Broad St
When: Runs through Sunday, March 15

La Bayadère is a beautifully fantastic ballet that shouldn’t be missed. The Academy of Music will be showcasing this outstanding piece through next week. Come see the stellar artistry and be swept away by Angel Corella’s restaging of the story. This exquisite tale of darkness and love should not be missed.

6. POPS Rock Phil Collins at the Kimmel Center

Where: Kimmel Center | 300 S. Broad St
When: Runs through Sunday, March 8

Philly POPS Rocks Phil Collins will be heralding the halls of the Kimmel Center through this Sunday. The music of Genesis and Phil Collins will be on full display. Come hear “Easy Lover,” “One More Night,” “In The Air Tonight,” and several other tracks. This will be a memorable night of stellar musicianship and talent.

7. Porgy and Bess

Where: Kimmel Center | 300 S. Broad St
When: Runs through Saturday, March 7

Also on at the Kimmel Center this weekend, soprano Angel Blue and renowned baritone Lester Lynch will be singing the classics. Highlights from George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess will be filling Verizon Hall. Assisted by the Morgan State University Choir, this will be a marvelous night of music.

8. Old City First Fridays

Where: Various locations
When: Friday, March 6

The first Friday of the month always gets Old City Districts shops, institutions, galleries, restaurants, and art lovers bustling. Several art studios in the area such as the Painted Bride Art Center, The Clay Studio, and 3rd Street Gallery have several beautiful exhibits and workshops open for all.

9. New Kensington First Fridays

When: Friday, March 6

New Kensington will be surging with art, culture, food, bar festivities and more. March’s First Friday! will feature special Happy Hours, sports talks, conversations about marginalized communities, art auctions, dance parties, art shows, and several other activities.

10. Clay Studio Happenings

When: Various times

The week, several engaging and dazzling exhibits and installations will be opening at The Clay Studio. Sara Parent Ramos: Praya dubia (runs through Sunday, March 29) includes a site-specific piece that will  “investigate the microbiome, the wonderful and terrifyingly elusive world thriving inside and outside us.”Small Favors XV: Expanding the Field  (runs through Sunday, April 26) features various small scale pieces of art. The works are incredibly varied in material, form, and aesthetics. Though small in scale the artworks created for this exhibition are huge in impact. In Joshua Hebbert: Stargazing (runs through Sunday, April 26), Herbert takes you on a journey of physical exploration of several interior and exterior spaces. Through casting the interior of the vessels, the forms of these objects reveal themselves.

11. Open Rehearsal with duende

When: Friday, March 6 | 6-7:30 p.m.

Join duende, a new music and contemporary dance collective, for a free behind-the-scenes look at a rehearsal process. duende’s directors include choreographer Chloe Perkes, composer Alyssa Weinberg, and cellist Gabriel Cabezas. Duende is the Dr. R.J. Wallner Dance Visions Residency Resident Artist and will premiere a new work at the Performance Garage as part of the residency on August 28 and 29, 2020.

12. Friday Night at the Museum

Each Friday evening the Philadelphia Museum of Art starts your weekend off right with this amazing art and music collective event. This Friday night jazz the Dave Douglass and his Devotion Trio will be showing his Grammy-nominated ways.

13. Friday Night at The Barnes

The Barnes Foundation will be the first on the list to highlight the first Friday of the month events. The Black Pearl Orchestra will be hosting special performance this Friday night celebrating African American women.

14. Viernes Calientes: A Latin Dance Party

Viernes Calientes: A Latin Dance Party

Where: World Cafe Live | 3025 Walnut St
When: Friday, March 6 | 9 p.m.

This is one of the more musically entertaining events on the list. To top it off, the entire rhythmic gathering is free. World Cafe Live will be hosting its recurring series Viernes Calientes this Friday. There will be live Latin music played by De Tierra Caliente, dancing, food, and beverages.

15. Philly Art Collective Weekend

The Philly Art Collective continually has tremendous and culturally stimulating exhibits each week. This weekend features Black Art First Friday and the HERspace Women’s Art Festival. These free art showcases will be a truly immersive experience.

16. 23rd Annual Fur Ball 

Where: Morris Animal Refuge | 1242 Lombard St
When: Friday, March 6 | 6-11 p.m.

Animal lovers and party goers rejoice — Morris Animal Refuge, America’s First Animal Shelter, is pleased to announce that the 23rd Annual Fur Ball, The Great Catsby, will be held on Friday, March 6, from 6 – 11 p.m. at the Bellevue Philadelphia. 2019’s gala raised over $40,000 with proceeds going towards helping the homeless, abandoned and unwanted pets of the Greater Philadelphia region. This year’s theme will be a soiree full of dancing and debauchery as guests are transported back in time to the Jazz Age. Attendees can look forward to gourmet foods and an open bar featuring signature cocktails such as the Clover Club.

17. Good Good Comedy Theatre Weekend

Another fantastic comedy club in the city will be hosting some exciting and hilarious fun this weekend. This Friday there will be Joke Bath: Comedy + Free Beer! Saturday’s Set-Up will feature a dating game show with a twist.

Stand up act and comedy writer Andrew Santino will be performing at Punch Line Philly for multiple nights this week. The Punk’d, Showtime and Comedy Central stand-up star will be getting all of the laughs this weekend. Come out to hear his new material at this treasured laugh house.

19. Israeli Film Festival

The 2020 Israeli Film Festival begins this Saturday. The annual film showcase illustrates the best in Israeli productions each year. There will be movie screenings, Q&A sessions, cultural discussions, and more. The festival will have everything from visual shorts, to documentaries, and beyond.

20. Paleopalooza at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

When: Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8 | 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Celebrate dinosaurs and scads of other fossils at this fun annual festival of gigantic proportions. Explore the world of dinosaurs as you examine rare fossils up close that were pulled from the Academy’s world-famous collection just for this festival. Talk with Academy paleontologists, meet live birds, take guided tours of Dinosaur Hall, and enjoy games, crafts and other activities that are guaranteed to enlighten even the wisest (and youngest) dinosaur experts in the family.

22. Greater Philadelphia Boat Show

23. Independence National Historical Park Happenings

Independence National Historical Park will be hosting several Women’s History Month-centric events this weekend. “Ring It Again! The Women’s Liberty Bell” is a ranger talk about the symbol of the women’s suffrage movement. There will be a live reenactment of the ratification of the 19th Amendment this Saturday. This Sunday, stop by for a global women celebration and a kid-friendly International Women’s Day festival.

24. International Womxn’s Day at Asian Arts Initiative

The Asian Arts Initiative will be hosting an International Women’s Day celebration this Saturday evening. This inclusive soiree will feature live performances, workshops, queer dance social, and information stations.

25. The Bourse Hosts Pop-Up Market to Celebrate Women’s History Month

Where: The Bourse | 111 S Independence Mall E
When: Saturday, March 7 | 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Bourse Food Hall is celebrating Women’s History Month in the City of Sisterly Love with a Women’s History Month Pop-Up Market featuring over twenty women-owned businesses. Guests are invited to shop at an array of Philadelphia-based, women-run businesses within the food hall while listening to live entertainment from five spectacular female artists from REC Philly. Vendors range from art and apparel, to beauty and beer, and much more.

26. Philly Craft Beer Fest at the Navy Yard

WWE Elimination Chamber

The WWE will reign supreme this Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center. WWE Elimination Chamber will feature a women’s elimination chamber match for a chance to challenge Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at Wrestlemania. There will also be tag team, intercontinental, and United States championships on the line.
