Daily Fantasy Sports Scandal: Industry Creates “Independent” Control Board to Ensure “Fair” Play

In today’s dose of Daily Fantasy comedy, the fantasy sports industry has created an “independent” control board as it faces continued scrutiny for its shady practices.

Former Obama administration official, Seth D. Harris, a lawyer who worked at the Department of Labor will be in charge of the Board that develops standards for the fantasy sports industry. One would think that something like this should’ve been done a long time ago. But, with the DFS industry taking what seems like daily fire for its questionable ways, what better time than now to cover their asses?

With the many investigations going on of the industry from the likes of the FBI, the fantasy sports industry is trying to show that it can police themselves. But, we’re not stupid. We see what they’re trying to do. This was a predictable move, as the DFS industry is a big time player and they’re in it for the long haul. Essentially, the whole shit show going on right now is nothing more than a way for the rich to get richer. Congress will use this scandal as a way to get a piece of the pie and in the end the DFS industry will have to deal with a few minor regulations, as a way to continue robbing the little man blind. It’s the American way.

DraftKings and FanDuel have always argued that DFS is a game of skill. While in reality, they’ve done nothing to protect user’s data from getting in the wrong people’s hands, like their own employees, who have all the access in the world to what players users are using in these games.

Not surprisingly, FanDuel has come out and stated that it was “pleased” with this announcement. That should tell you all that you need to know about these latest shenanigans. I feel like I’m watching C-Span with all of the politicking going on. For further amusement, Mr. Harris said “The fantasy sports business has grown up, it is a big player, and I think there is widespread recognition in the industry that there is a need to ensure players that the games are honest, that they have integrity and that they’re fair.”

Pppppppppppppppppppppfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. The Fantasy Sports Industry has really taken some initiative here to lead by example. /sarcasm
