Report: Mike D’Antoni to Join Sixers Coaching Staff

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Mike D’Antoni is set to join the Sixers coaching staff. Jerry Colangelo and D’Antoni are familiar with each other from their days with the Phoenix Suns. Brett Brown just signed a two year contract extension with the Sixers, so that will ensure that Brown’s job is safe – for now. Could D’Antoni be groomed here to be the next Sixers coach? It’s certainly possible.

D’Antoni has coached for Denver, Phoenix, New York and the Lakers. Whenever a team has a Head Coaching vacancy, D’Antoni’s name is always brought up into the mix of possible next hires – though I’m not sure why that is. His career Head Coaching record is 455-426, which is just above average.

It appears that Ownership in Philadelphia has gotten impatient with the “process.”
