New York Giants’ Young Playmaker Accused of Rape

According to a report from the New York Post, New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley has been accused of attempting to rape a woman.

Police sources said that Bromley picked the woman up at her home early Saturday after meeting her on Instagram, and then headed to a hotel.

Bromley was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Bromley was not raised by his biological parents. His father was in jail for manslaughter after beating and tying a prostitute to a basement radiator and his mother had a drug addiction. Here’s the account of the incident as told in the New York Post.

She said she willfully performed oral sex on him,” a source said. But then “something took place where she didn’t want it to take place. Cops are still investigating exactly what occurred in the hotel room and are waiting to interview Bromley. After the alleged assault, the Queens-born baller left the hotel, but the woman followed him down the street, asking for a ride home, sources said. Bromley tried to shoo the woman away and when he wouldn’t give her a lift, she leapt onto the hood of his vehicle, a source said. He pulled away slowly and the alleged victim fell from the car, hurting her kness. A credit card with Bromley’s name on it was used to pay for the room, a police source confirmed. The alleged victim was taken to Roosevelt Hospital.”

The Giants put out the following statement.

We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it. We have notified the league office per the league’s protocol. We will have no further comment as we understand this is an ongoing investigation.”

The NFL has dealt with their share of disturbing incidents over the last year or so. Most notably have been the Johnny Manziel issues, along with the Greg Hardy domestic violence incident. We urge caution with rushing to judgement of this story before all of the facts come out, but things certainly don’t sound good at all. I will say that it wasn’t the brightest idea to pick someone up that he met on social media. To be continued.
