There’s a New Leading Candidate for the Eagles’ Head Coaching Job

As if life as an Eagles fan isn’t depressing enough, now may be the time to wave the white flag if you’ve heard anything about their head coaching search for the last two weeks. Things are getting ugly. We mentioned that Jeff McLane from the Inquirer was reporting that the Eagles were ready to hire Ben McAdoo as their next head coach before the Giants came in late and retained him.

If McLane’s report was indeed true, and the Eagles were ready to hire McAdoo, they’ll now need to move onto Plan J. So much for the Eagles getting a head start on their search for a coach, huh? But where do the Birds go from here?

I’ll let Phil Sheridan of ESPN be the messenger on this one. Cover your eyes if you don’t want to go insane. Here’s what Sheridan thinks:

The next domino to fall could be the Eagles’ decision. They appear likely to hire Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson when the Chiefs are eliminated from the postseason. The Chiefs are scheduled to play the New England Patriots on Saturday.

FML! What have we done to deserve this? I give up.

Pederson was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach in 2011, and then became the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator for three seasons. I’m not sure there could be a more underwhelming guy that the Eagles could turn to for their next coach. Thanks, Chip! This is all your fault.
