The Celtics’ Twitter Account Trolled Ben Simmons and the Sixers Last Night

For as long as we’ve had to watch the Sixers lose, and lose, and lose again, and have the local and national media kill them for it, last night was supposed to be the first step in the right direction. Ben Simmons was suiting up for the Sixers for the first time in game action and looked pretty damn impressive during the game. Until he, you know, had to leave due to injury after scoring 10 points, five assists and eight rebounds.

But, of course, that didn’t stop the Boston Celtics from celebrating their first Summer League win as if they’d just won the NBA Championship.

Yeah, let’s not pay attention to the fact Simmons was hurt on the play and wound up leaving the game due to cramping. Not an especially huge deal considering he hasn’t played a meaningful game since he was with LSU. But that didn’t stop the Celtics from really pouring it on. Who the hell is Terry Rozier?

Terry Rozier put an exclamation point on Boston’s 102-94 win over the Sixers Monday night by slamming home a monstrous dunk in transition with 18 seconds left on the clock.

What a fitting ending. Rozier deserved to punctuate the victory that he authored all night long.

Rozier, not No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons, was the best and most consistent player on the floor Monday night. While Simmons showed brief flashes of elite passing, it was Rozier who got it done at both ends of the court and everywhere between.

How lame. I guess Kevin Durant choosing to sign with the Golden State Warriors really upset the Bostonians that they put 100% stock into a Summer League game. Whereas, we just had fun with it and were able to watch Simmons begin his journey as a Sixer and didn’t take it as seriously as the butthurt Celtics. Congratulations on the NBA Championship, fellas.
