Flyers Sign Shayne Gostisbehere to a Multi-Year Extension

Shayne Gostisbehere will be staying in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future.

The Flyers signed the young defenseman to a multi-year contract on Friday and Tim Pinnacio of CSN Philly is reporting the deal is for six years.

Ghost was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1st and the new pact prevents him from potentially being selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

“It’s a dream come true to be part of one of the best organizations in hockey,” Gostisbehere said. “With everything that’s going on here – we’ve got some young guys coming up and we’ve already got some key pieces – it’s nice to know you’re part of the future and part of the plans. There’s many more steps to come and hopefully it leads to some great things. It’s a tremendous honor to realize you’re part of the future.”

Gostisbehere has tallied 24 goals and 85 points during his first two seasons, including seven goals and 39 points this past year.
