What’s Happening in Philly This Weekend: November 17-19

Each weekend, we will post some of the most unique social and culture places to visit in addition to exciting events in and around the Philly area. We call it Philly Influencer’s Weekend Picks. Events Running Through the Weekend

1. The Philadelphia Marathon

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Friday, November 17th-Sunday, November 19th

Over 30,000 runners take their march each year in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to conquer the The Philadelphia Marathon. There will be a full marathon, half marathon, and more taking over the city all weekend. Come out to participate or watch this amazing display of endurance, will, and athleticism.

2. Kiefer Rodin

Where: The Barnes Foundation, 2025 Benjamin Franklin Pkwy.
When: Runs through Monday, March 12th

The Kiefer Rodin exhibit will be opening this week at The Barnes Foundation. The series’ “Cathedrals in Paris” themed structures will available for public viewings all the day through early 2018. German artist Anselm Kiefer sculptures, drawings, paintings, and writings are all pieces you don’t want to miss.

3. It’s A Wonderful Life

Where: Walnut Street Theatre, 825 Walnut St.
When: Runs through Sunday, December 31st

The Walnut Street Theatre already has one holiday classic brewing with its fantastic run of Annie. The production house will be bringing George Bailey, Mr. Potter, Mary, and the family to the stage with their run of the famous It’s A Wonderful Life. Bring all of your loved one out to see this play touting Christmas miracles, appreciation for the good things in life, and togetherness.

4. Punch Line Philly Weekend

Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, November 17th-Sunday, November 19th

Punch Line Philly will have an amazing lineup of events and activities this weekend. Comedians Kurt Metzeger and LaRoyce Hawkins will both be having shows at the well-known comedy club. There will also be a painting and drinks event at the venue this Saturday afternoon at 1PM. This will be a location that will be filled with laughter and a great time this weekend.

5. J.B. Smoove

Where: Valley Forge Casino, 1160 1st Ave, King of Prussia, PA
When: Friday, November 17th, 9PM

For those looking for laughs on the outskirts of the city, come to the Valley Forge Casino this Friday night. Comedian and actor J.B. Smoove will be performing a standup show at this King of Prussia casino’s entertainment theater. The showman can be currently seen on the rejuvenated HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm.

6. Liberty Flea

Where: 1901 S. 9th St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 10AM-5PM

If you’re looking for vintage collectibles, antiques, clothing, and signature items than the Liberty Flea is the place to be this Saturday. For just a simple entry fee of $5 you’ll get access to some of the most distinguished and local handmade pieces. The flea includes furniture, jewelry, home supplies, and so much more.

7. Nerdtino

Where: Taller Puertorriqueño, 2600 N. 5th St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 11AM-6PM

Nerdtino Expo 2017 celebrates Latinx, Hispanic, Xicano, Afro-Latinx, and Afro-Caribbean creators and their influence on geek culture. This is the st East Coast Latino Comic Book Convention in history. There will be authors on location for discussions, a sneak peek at Disney’s new film Coco, gaming panels, and more.

8. Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar

Where: SugarHouse Casino, 1001 N. Delaware Ave.
When: Saturday, November 18th-Sunday, November 19th

With the holidays rolling around like the blink of an eye, it’s always a great choice to have multiple gift options available. The Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar will be one of the main features a the SugarHouse Casino this weekend. There will be 75 of the art and craft vendors on location. There will also be food trucks at this event.

9. Temple vs. UCF

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, 1 Lincoln Financial Field Way.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 12PM

The (5-5) Temple Owls will be taking on the (9-0) University of Central Florida Knights this Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field. This will be the home finale for the local university. The matchup will be hard-fought as they face the fourteenth ranked team in the nation.

10. Flyers vs. Flames

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 1PM

Continuing the local sports Saturday, the Philadelphia Flyers will be hitting the ice at the Wells Fargo center this Saturday afternoon to take on the Calgary Flames. The Flames are 10-7 and are nestled at fourth place in the Pacific Division. The Philadelphia Flyers are breaking even at 8-8-1 and look to notch a win to better their last place divisional standing.

11. Northeast Philly Food Truck Festival

Where: Roosevelt Mall, 2329 Cottman Ave.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 12PM-7PM

Cottman Avenue will be filled with savory smells and food this Saturday when the 2017 Northeast Philly Food Truck Festival hits the streets. Come to the Roosevelt Mall lots and be greeted by over a dozen food trucks. There will be kids games, live music, information tables, and more.

12. Pop-Up Beer Garden at Headhouse Square

Where: 2nd and Lombard St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 2PM-7PM

The Philadelphia “Phriendsgiving” Pop-Up Beer Garden will be this Saturday. Headhouse Square will have all you can eat food and drinks, screens showing college football, video games on location, live music, and dancing. All proceeds will go towards aiding local elementary school students.

13. Pups ‘N’ Pints

Where: City Tap House, 39th and Walnut St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 1PM

City Tap House University City will be hosting its annual Pups ‘N’ Pints this Saturday. The events benefits local animal rescue groups. There will be raffles, cute adoptable animals on location, beer, and more. With your ticket purchase you’ll go home with a doggie bag and get an included craft beer.

14. The National Dog Show

Where: The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, 100 Station Ave.
When: Saturday, November 18th-Sunday, November 19th

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia and Purina presents the 2017 National Dog Show. The two benched and all-breed dog shows will be front and center this Saturday and Sunday at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. Philadelphia has hosted this show of pageantry and skill since 1876.

15. West Philly Flea Market

Where: CMC Entertainment Space, 52nd and Cedar Ave.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 12PM-6PM

The last flea market and vendor fair on the list this week is West Philly’s Largest Flea Market. There will be a wide variety of peddlers at this local shopping event. There will be antique personal items, collectibles, clothing, furniture, books, house goods, and more all up for purchase at this spacious location.

16. 76ers vs. Warriors

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Saturday, November 18th, 7:30PM

The 76ers young core is good. This is a fact confirmed by anybody with eyes and a brain. The Wells Fargo Center will have a quick turnaround after the Flyers game this Saturday when the Golden State Warriors come to town. Come see Emiid, Simmons, Reddick, and the newly paid Covington take on the powerhouse team.

17. Fylers Wives Carnival

Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St.
When: Sunday, November 19th, 11AM-4PM

The Flyers Wives Carnival is an annual charity event that always excites each year. The community gathering will have Flyers players, management, and media personalities all in attendance. There will be family friendly rides, games, and attractions at this amusing and larger-than-life party.

18. Franklin Square Sundays

Where: Franklin Square, 200 N. 6th Street
When: Sunday, November 19th, 4PM

Franklin Square has multiple events highlighting the carousel filled area this Sunday. To ring end the closing of Mural Arts’ Monument Lab, there will be a sound loop inspired by Philadelphia’s rich musical history on display. There will also Sounds of the Seasons this Sunday with Philly POPs holiday themed music playing throughout the location. This musical explosion takes place each Sunday.

19. Drink, Draw, and Snack

Where: Bleu Martini, 24 S. 2nd St.
When: Sunday, November 19th, 5PM-7PM

Bleu Martini will be hosting an engaging paint and drinks themed event this Sunday evening. Whether you’re a natural creative or require a few sips to get the artistic juices flowing, this event is for you. Guests are more than welcome to stay at the restaurant for dinner.

20. Silversun Pickups

Where: The Fillmore Philadelphia, 29 E. Allen St.
When: Sunday, November 19th, 8PM

Radio 104.5 Presents Silversun Pickups at The Fillmore Philadelphia this Sunday night. The Los Angeles alternative and indie rock band will be gracing the stage at the music venue and rocking the house. The band hasn’t released an album since its 2015 release Better Nature. Come hear their old tracks and some new singles.
