Cocktails of the Week: National Scotch Day

This Friday, July 27th is National Scotch Day across the country. The Twisted Tale, a Southern-inspired Society Hill hotspot, will be enhancing their $15 Burger, Beer & Bourbon special.   Famous Grouse Scotch will be swapped in for the bourbon in the trio. The dining triple threat will be available at the bar or on the patio during Social Hour from 5-7 PM on Friday. Flights of beer, scotch, and bourbon will also be available via the restaurant’s regular menu.

Each Wednesday between the hours of 5PM-7PM the areas of Avenue of the Arts, Center City East, Center City West, and Rittenhouse Square participate in Center City Sips. Over 80 participating locations have $6 cocktails, $5 wines, $4 beers, and appetizer discounts. Here are this week’s best deals.

Brickwall Tavern: Brickwall Tavern has several deals during Center City Sips. They have a $6Brickwall City Wide cocktail which includes Kenzinger and a shot of Jack Daniels. There are also rotating select cocktails and Hornitos mixes. The Sansom Street pub also has $5 Happy Hour Baskets.

Charlie was a sinner: Charlie was a sinner is a great place for vegetarian, vegan, and delicious plant-based meals. During Sips come try The Red Sparrow cocktail (red raspberry infused hornitos plata, lime, and agave) orCharlie’s Punch. Pair the drinks with $4 Potato Croquettes or $5 Korean Style Fried Tofu.

Con Murphy’s Irish Pub: Con Murphy’s Irish Pub is nestled right on the edge of the Ben Franklin Parkway. Wine lovers can stop by for $5 Pio Pinot Grigio or Cypress Merlot. Sam Summer Cans and a rotation of  Victory brewing beer will also be featured during these hours. If you stay at the pub past Sips hours you’ll get 15% off of your dinner bill.

Old City Eats Picks: Farmicia Food & Tonics, National Mechanics, Nauti Mermaid Crab House + Piano Bar

Each Thursday between the hours of 5 pm-8 pm Philadelphia participates in Old City Eats. Over 25 participating locations have half-priced appetizers, $4 beers, $5 cocktails, and other drink specials.

Farmicia Food & Tonics: Farmicia Food & Tonics has several deals for you during Old City Eats. The 100 plus seating eatery has $6 baked meatballs which include pecorino, parmesan, house marinara, and pesto. Try their $5 Blood Orange Cooler (gin, falernum, lime, orange, sherbet, tonic, featuring Faber Liquors) and more during these wallet-friendly.

National Mechanics: National Mechanics, another 3rd Street gem, will fill you up with their tasty Chicken & Veggie Hand Pie. The featured cocktail during Eats is a Single Prop Strawberry Daiquiri. For beer drinkers, the former bank building had $4 New Belgium Fat Tire on tap.

Nauti Mermaid Crab House + Piano Bar: Nauti Mermaid Crab House + Piano Bar is new to Old City Eats this year. The seafood exploring menu features a discounted crab cake sandwich for those stopping by each Thursday. The Nauti Orange Crush cocktail is highlighted by Faber Vodka. You can also get $4 Evolution and $3 Bud Light at the bar.

Each week, Philly Influencer picks the best parties, events, and social gatherings the area has to offer.

Parks on Tap: Parks on Tap will be held at a brand new location in the series. Come to Pastorius Park in Chestnut Hill for live music, free yoga, food trucks, brews, hammocks, and more at this popular beer garden.

Movie Screenings: This Thursday come out to Penn’s Landing for  Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Schmidt’s Commons for Wonder Woman, and  Moana on the Schuylkill Banks. On the same day, Jurassic Park will also be screened at the King of Prussia Town Center.

Live Music at The Oval: The Barnes Foundation has created a special interactive outdoor installation, The Canopy. Guests traveling down to The Oval on the parkway on Thursdays can stop by this lounge area with inflatable furniture, café-style seating, amusing games, and more for Arts & Culture Thursdays. This week Drummer Doug Hirlinger and saxophonist Andrew Pereira will be front and center from 11:30 am-1:30 pm.

Afro Disco: This Friday night World Cafe Live will be hosting an Afro Disco Party. DJ Rahsaan will be playing the best beats in African, Latin, and more within the diaspora. The party starts at 8 pm.

Social Sips at Moshulu: This Thursday night the decks of Moshulu will be full of partygoers and sippers for Social Sips. The party will be going from 6 pm-10 pm. There will be DJs, live music, and an amazing crowd.

Philadelphia Potter Crawl: This Saturday from 1 pm-9 pm the Philadelphia Potter Crawl will be taking over the city. This celebration of Harry Potter and booze has several specials including food, $2 beers, $3 rail drinks, and more.

Ugly Sweater Party at Luck Strike: Ugly Sweater PartyThis Saturday night Lucky Strike will be throwing a Christmas Party in July. The starts at 8 pm and ends at 2 am. There will be bowling, drinks, food, prizes and giveaways, and more.

The Big’ 80’s Party: This Saturday night Voltage Lounge will be hosting a Big’ 80’s Party from 8 pm-2 am. Hits from Michael Jackson, Prince, and others will be blasting through the speakers at this all-night dance party.

Made In America Culinary Competiton: This Sunday the Fillmore Philadelphia will be hosting a Made In America Culinary Competition. Winners at this cookoff will become a food vendor at the Made in America festival. The chefs will compete making food from all regions and cuisines. This event is free to enter.
