1. Closing Soon: Swing @ The Kimmel Center

Where: Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts  Swing @ the Kimmel, an interactive and free virtual reality swing installation, will be ending this Sunday. This cutting-edge innovation will immerse your family in the wonders of your favorite pastimes. Stop by the famed event center before its too late.

2. Closing Soon: Women’s Film Festival

The 5th annual Women’s Film Festival will be ending its run this Saturday, March 23rd. It’s been a splendid week of movie trivia, screenings, panel discussions, Q&A portions, and more. Don’t miss an opportunity to see all the fantastic work on display.

3. Closing Soon: Orchid Extravaganza

Where: Longwood Gardens, 1001 Longwood Rd.  Kennett Square, PA
When: Runs through Sunday, March 24th

Longwood Gardens has been overflowing with beautiful orchids through for over a month. The serenity that comes with strolling through some of the most beautiful flowers in the world should not be missed. These show-stopping arrangements is a must see before the weekend closes.

4. Women’s History Month Events

Women’s History Month’s closure is a little over a week away. Don’t miss your chance to dive in and engage in some of the various activities in the city. The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be having late-night guided tours focused on the city’s historic women at locations in Philadelphia’s Historic District this Friday. The Wyck Historic House will be having a The Harriet Tubman Living History Experience event. The gathering will touch on the Underground Railroad and will close with a reading from the novel Peculiar Friendships by its author, Gwen Ragsdale.

5. Miss Saigon at the Academy of Music

Where: Academy of Music, 240 S. Broad St.
When: Runs through Sunday, March 31st

From the creators of Les Misérables, the phenomenal musical Miss Saigon comes to the Academy of Music this week. Broadway Philadelphia presents this stunning cast of 42 performing great songs such as “Last Night of the World”, “The Movie in My Mind”, and “The Heat is On in Saigon”.

6. Bach in the Subways

When: Various times through Sunday, March 24th

When walking through various SEPTA stations through Sunday, you may hear the classic sounds of the classical composer Bach. Jefferson Station, Suburban Station, and beyond will be full of talented musicians playing signature pieces from the renowned figure. Bach in the Subway is a nationwide endeavor that will finally be getting its City of Brotherly Love debut.

7. Bash at Adventure Aquarium

Adventure Aquarium will be celebrating Button, the Nile hippo’s, 22nd birthday this weekend. There will be a hippo-sized birthday card at the entrance of Hippo Haven, games and prizes, treats, a wonderful discussion, and so much more family fun.

8. Friday Night at the Museum

The Philadelphia Museum of Art holds a special happy hour series each Friday. The gathering uniquely blends arts and music in this special clash of culture. Each week there’s small bites, beverages, cocktails, special gallery access, and live music. This week features a performance by jazz vocalist Denise King.

9. Dinos After Dark

When: Friday, March 22nd, 4PM-8PM

This Friday The Academy of Natural Sciences will be hosting their late-night soiree Dinos After Dark. The series welcomes you to tour the museum, grab a drink at The Academy Beer Garden,  and grab some small bites at the iconic Dinosaur Hall with food and drink by 12th Street Catering.

10. Roy Wood Jr. 


Where: Punch Line Philly, 33 E. Laurel St.
When: Friday, March 22nd & Saturday, March 23rd

Comedian and entertainer Roy Wood Jr. will be live and center stage this week at Punch Line Philly. The hilarious act has been described as “charismatic crankiness” by Entertainment Weekly.  He’s been on Def Comedy Jam, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and others productions. If you’re looking for a fun night out, this is the place to be.

11. Fleetwood Mac

When: Friday, March 22nd, 8PM

Fleetwood Mac will be saying to goodbye to Lindsey Buckingham in this spanning 2019 worldwide tour. Crowded House’s Neil Finn and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have come aboard to spark the lineup of this legendary band. The Wells Fargo Center will be rocking with countless hits all night long.

12. Liberty Flea

Shopping and gift giving is truly the name of the game over the next coming weeks. Stop by the Bok building this Saturday for the Libert Flea market. There will be several tremendous antiques, collectibles, candles, jewelry, art, and more up for sale at this fantastic shopping gathering.

13. Farmers’ Market

Each weekend in the City, several areas in the city are filled with produce and handmade crafts. Head over to Clark Park Farmers’ MarketHeadhouse District Farmers’ MarketRittenhouse Square Farmers’ MarketMarket at the Fareway in Chestnut Hill, or Fairmount Farmers Market for all your needs. For those in collegiate domains, there’s a weekly University City Farmers’ Market and Cecil B. Moore Farmers’ Market.

14. Shofuso Japanese House and Garden Opening Weekend

Where: Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, Lansdowne Dr. and Horticultural Dr.
When: Runs through October 2019

The Shofuso Japanese House and Garden will be opening for the season this Saturday. Come to this melding of rich history and Japanese culture at this beautiful setting.  The traditional-style Japanese house and garden hosts tours, tea events, exhibits, and has several cultural activities daily.

15. Intro to 3-D Printing

The Franklin Institute will be having an interactive 3-D printing workshop this Saturday. You’ll be able to see the process from start to finish. The institute writes, “the 90-minute workshop allows participants the opportunity to fully design and print 3D creations as they gain foundational knowledge in one of the most versatile emerging technologies of today.”

16. In Conversation with Lorene Cary and Jerry Pinkney

Artist Jerry Pinkney will be spending the afternoon with Lorene Cary, educator, activist, and author at the Woodmere Art Museum. Both Pinkney and Cary grew up in Philadelphia and will be discussing their celebrated creations over the years.

17. PERFORMANCE at the Painted Bride Art Center

“PERFORMANCE is a fully interactive, motion-controlled instrument for creating music in real time using bodily movement.” Creatives and fun individuals alike, come out to the Painted Bride Art Center for a wondrous event for participants of any skill level. This will be a fully immersive gathering fusing sound, movement, and more.

18. Islanders vs. Flyers

19. Blackwolves vs. Wings

The Wells Fargo Center and Philly sports keep rolling when the New England Blackwolves take on the Philadelphia Wings this Saturday night. Saturday will be Fan Appreciation Night. There will be giveaways for all fans, VIP experiences, and the opportunity to participate in the Shirts Off Our Backs post-game auction where fans can bid on jerseys worn by the players.

20. Columbus Crew SC vs. Union

The Philly Union will be in an all-out war against Columbus Crew SC under the Saturday night lights in a few days. The club is looking for their second win of the season and their first home win. MLS fans will be in full attendance for this great matchup.

21. Big Philly Bridal Expo

This weekend the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown will be taken over by wedding gown designers, florist, wedding planners, cake samples, photographers, and more. 22. Comedians on the Loose
