Chase Utley’s retirement gives us an all-time great Philly sports moment

Chase Utley closed the book on his storied career during his retirement night. One last time we got to hear Jimmy Page’s guitar ring throughout Citizens Bank Park as the silver-haired fox trotted out to second base for the final time. But the best moment of the ceremony came as a catch a decade in the making finally happened.

The ceremonial first pitch gave us an all-time great Philadelphia sports moment and the greatest battery in all of baseball. Utley of course took the mound on his retirement night and receiving the first pitch was his number one fan, Mac. Not every day can be great in Philly, but when Chase Utley is in a Phillies uniform, it’s always sunny in Philadelphia.
